Re: Alfa tool A.3.0298 for replacing gearbox hub seals

A little update on replacing the shaft seal on a spare gearbox. I managed to make the tool for removing the locking ring, it was quite simple really. I used a piece of tube of the correct diameter, welded an M40 hub nut on one end and welded a threaded round section on the other end to take an M12 b...

Re: Carburettors

Hi Chris, I have had a look at Technical Service Data book that I have and I have included an image of the relevant page. If you take a look at the carb data it shows the different jetting between the two. I would think that if you are running a 105bhp engine then you should jet it as per the 36IDF5...

It is great to hear you are making good progress, getting the engine back in and running is certainly that. It's days like this that give you a boost in the right direction to keep going.

The thread size on the special tool A.3.0298 for removing the locking ring part No 60502703 is M40 x 1.5, this may be useful for anyone wanting to make their own puller.

Re: Wiring up Veglia Borletti gauges

Hi, I am no expert on this subject but it is my understanding that the oil pressure gauge operates from the oil pressure sender unit located by the distributor. The switch by the oil filter only sends a signal to say the oil pressure is satisfactory or not, to the oil pressure light on the dash. The...

Re: Alfa tool A.3.0298 for replacing gearbox hub seals

Hi Gary, thanks for your reply. I just wanted to change them myself really, the seals are only £10 each, you just need to make sure you get the two different sizes. The seal part numbers as far as I’m aware are (right) 101442 / 120011451B / 60502669 and (left) 101443 / 12011452B / 60502670.

Re: Cv joints again

Thanks for taking the time to share this information, it is all very helpful. Hopefully someone may comment on the use of a 90mm CV on a car fitted with an 81mm CV. It would appear from the General Ricambi catalogue that the 90mm CV may have more splines (24) rather than (22) on the shaft entry side...

Re: Cv joints again

Hi Chris, I had a look recently and these seem very difficult to find now. I have messaged a few of the sellers on eBay but they all say they are not suitable. I think the advertised gearbox end joints may be suitable with a bit more investigation but I don’t think the wheel end ones come even close...

Re: Head Gasket Recommendations

Thanks Gary, I think you are correct. I have read other recommendations for Goetze which would make sense. They are however one of the makes that is becoming more difficult to get hold of.
The BGA, AJUSA and Victor Reinz are readily available, thanks again.

Head Gasket Recommendations

Hello everyone, Could do with a bit of guidance, I will soon be rebuilding a 1.5 105bhp engine and just wanted to ask if anyone had any recommendations for decent quality head gaskets, or the ones to avoid given that originals are difficult to find? I have seen some of the following makes, some easi...

Alfasud Campari

The yellow Campari is a car I owned in the 1980's. These were special editions created by the Blackpool Alfa Romeo dealership 'Hargreaves and Bailey Ltd'. I would imagine it was a promotion to boost sales at the time. All the decals were painted, I would assume by a local bodyshop. During my ownersh...

I couldn’t agree more about the satisfaction you get from the restoration process, great for taking your mind off things. Having the Sud there though, just waiting to be driven is also a great tonic and puts a smile on my face even just looking at it. Hope you don’t regret it! 😁

Hi Richard, glad you enjoyed the S2 experience, quite a contrast to the S3, especially the interior.
I don’t think I will make it to the NEC this year, too much going on at the moment.
Wishing you all the best with your Sprint project and I’ve got to ask, why on earth is your S3 up for sale?

Hello everyone, My name is Michael and I am a newbie to posting on CAF, I would like to introduce myself and my Sud. I have been an Alfa enthusiast since my teens and that is a while ago now! In the 80's I owned a Series 2 Sud, a Campari and yes, most of you will never of heard of one but they did e...
