What engines going in this Kev, original 1186cc or going bigger.... if staying at 1186cc I would stay with the STD clutch as it will cope with the 60 odd HP no problem and 180mm clutch components are cheap and plentiful on e-bay currently as they only fit 1.2 & 1.3 engines.KevJTD wrote:window uprights are now black, shame as they'd been painted already in body colour but they needed to be black.
just sorting through a few bits and bobs for the next stages of the build.
peddle box i picked up out of the stock is the wrong one, no accelerator pedal mount on it. no worries, will collect another next time i'm up there.
had a call from tom this week, gearbox appears to be in good health but i've asked him to give it the works, change anything that needs doing.
with that in mind i had a look at the clutch that's on the engine.
doesn't look bad condition wise, measured well within wear limts so could be used.
compared it against a good spare i have which was actually slightly better wear wise.
but, the one with the engine is a 180mm diameter
my spare is the more normal 200mm diameter.
so the question is, less mass of the original diameter to keep it rev happy (marginal diference, i know), or bigger diameter for longer lasting/more resistance to slip
If you are planning on the standard engine are you 100% sure you want to stay with it mate, its a bit of a gutless thing even back in the day, I am keeping my 1186cc and associated bits and bobs in-case values go through the roof but I have a 1.7 solid lifter engine to go in mine coupled to a 1.5 g/box.
You are at the best bit of any rebuild for sure..... patience is needed though as you say......
