Kev, they can be as bad as a Sud.
My boss got one to do for his wife and luckily, un like a Sud, you can get panels.
It ended up with complete floor panels , quarter panels, wings, front panel, scuttle panel etc. etc.
They are great fun though.
Talking of that program, the Aston DBS that started the new series is at the factory at the moment. It caught fire !!
I will say no more. :o

did do a search for panels mate and it's amazing what you can buy off the shelf, and for fairly reasonable money too. not as cheap as the campervan stuff but at least they are available, unlike the sud stuff.
they are great at rusting too though, as you say.
love that white one 8-)

funny about the aston :D

They are the same car Kev.
When repaired he painted it white, and badly fitted the stripes. Cost him a fortune.
Here are some more.
Pity we can't get trim kits for a Sud like you can for a 500 eh !
Have you ever seen the dark blue 500 with a 1.5 twin carb Sud lump in the middle? Look really great.

The mid-engined one? Yes, it was at Auto Italia - I think it is based on a 33 though, outboard brakes. It is beautifully engineered but a bit of a caricature really.

Famed Lamborghini test driver Bob Wallace had a 500 as a daily driver, and that's a good enough endorsement for me! I think I would like to have a 500, perhaps re-engineered to accommodate one of those new twin-cylinder engines, that would be fun 8-)

Oh dear - I had assumed Ant Anstead was a bit less of a cowboy than Messrs Brewer and China, but perhaps not :o

Incidentally, anyone else heard the rumour that Phil Glenister has been approached by the BBC to fill the Clarkson slot on TG? With Jodie Kidd and Guy Martin???

had heard the rumour about phil glennister for top gear but don't think the format of the show will work with anyone else let alone him. liked his acting but he isn't passionate about cars enough to make an impact
jodie kidd is ok, that classic car show she did with quentin wilson was watchable but too much "oh what a wonderful ferrari/maserati/porsche etc etc...
i can't imagine for one second that guy martin would entertain doing more tv work.
having met him before outside of tv land (lives fairly local, seen him working before in his V8 scania overalls, same as on tv...not an act) he genuinely comes across as a fella who enjoys mending stuff and shuns the limelight. his book confirmed the view, tv stuff has earned him a nice little pension nest egg but he still enjoys getting up at 6am to service trucks more than standing in front of the camera.

i think that top gear is done.

clarkson/may/hammond will start their own show on itv and be allowed to be more daft than ever before which itv will love because of the premium they will be able to charge for ads

Sadly I think you are right. And it's not so bad - plenty of repeats on Dave (with adverts) and even BBC3!

Hi Lauren, while looking for some 500 pics I found this !! Not sure of the year / event but I know it was Stanford Hall.

I agree about Top Gear, I am sure the three amigos will get a new show somewhere else doing more of the same.

incedentally the bit at the bubble car museum was local to me too, literally 5 miles away. we went there a year or 2 back with the lincs alfa club.
quite a few interesting little cars in there like this one that seemed wider than it was long!

Yes Kev, it was the Sharnbrook.

Speak of the Devil, that was the year that the TG trio turned up in their cheap car challenge Alfas! You could tell where they were at all times because of the huge crowd of people! Same year Mick Colvill brought his Alitalia liveried twinny-Sud to the show (none of that made it onto the telly).

That's right Lauren.
I had arranged to meet up with John (justsuds) as he supplied me with a stainless screen surround. We were standing chatting when we saw a 75 run into the back of a GTV and thought, " Oh bugger !! someone is having a bad day". Still didn't realise at the time it was TG.
I know what you mean about the herd following them around.
I seem to recall Clarkson spending quite a bit of time around the Lancias, but like you say they showed none of that. They also went to Rockingham.
I remember the twin sud and I think the Beta was there as well. Or was that another meet.........???

I think you might be right, the Beta was there too, but I think Mick started the twinny up which kept the crowds happy!

Yes, all the trackday action was filmed at "the Rock" - although I believe Jezzas 75 was tipped on its side using a forklift. Didn't someone on "the other forum" buy what was left of it after the show?

I have heard something along those lines. It is still as they (Jezza) finished with it.
Not the best shade of green paint :o
I will have to try and find a picture of my old green series 2 Veloce. I re-sprayed it a lovely metallic green .
There is a lot of love for the colour green on CAF. I don't understand why so many people dislike it?
