306* C&B cams

Post by SteffenJ3316V »

I've got some 306* C&B cams I would like to put in my 1,7 8V mech tappet engine. According to my mates memory you need to machine down the cam house by 1 mm to be able to adjust the valves correctly with the shims.
1: How do you guys do it ?
2: Do I need to raise the compression ?

It's no probleme getting it done :) It's more whether it's necessary or not :)

You have to measure the basic diameter of your cams. A smaller diameter means, you´ll increase valve play.
If so, there are two ways. The easier way is to use shims (from Alfa 75, Ducati, ..) on your valve stem to reduce play.
Second way is to machine down the cam housing. You won´t change compression ration as you don´t touch combustion chamber.
