1700 8v fast road c130bhp engine

Post by Veesix75 »

Comrades

I’ve been storing a Dave Ashford/Brunswick built 1700 8v with a good 130bhp (maybe a bit more tbh as this was on 32mm chokes and a std. factory exhaust manifold, so a bit throttled).

I had it built for my first Sud racer, in the production spec class. It is lightened , balanced, rebore, new pistons, gas flowed and heads all cleaned up but modifications were limited. The rev limit was set to 6250rpm and it’s probably done less than a thousand miles (maybe 20 races)

John Justsuds drove the sud with this engine around Cadwell, and therefore can vouch for it.

It has been dry stored for 10 years, turned over now and again, looks a bit tired externally with a bit of flaky block paint, but will be sound and strong still. I’d recommend new belts (no sh!t) and probably heads off and new gaskets just from being stood around.

It is the assembled block and heads, but no carbs or ancillaries.

I’d like £600 for it.

I can supply a pair of twin 40 Webers (real ones), some ancillaries, some new bearing shells (probably doesn’t need any but I used to change them every season when racing) and a new gasket set at extra cost if needed.

Thanks Tim
