Very rare 2600 Berlina for sale in South Africa

Post by Alfasam »

Spotted this a few days ago. At current exchange the vendor is asking approx GBP 8K. Looks to be in decent condition and good value.

Lovely looking car. What would it sell for here?

Importing a car from SA is quite a bit of work and not cheap. There are a number of hoops to jump through in SA (not expensive, just time consuming) but the shipping, duty and VAT on this side will see the total landed price of that car end up being about £13,500. Not too bad for a rare car like that.

Just found its listed on a UK classic cars website for more money - maybe the exchange rate has moved since the SA ad was placed.

Here it is: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C665259

As regards what it might be worth another one was sold by H&H auctions in the not too distant past for GBP 10,800.

The H&H car does not seem to be in such good condition as the SA car as it apparently had corrosion in the door bottoms and boot lid.
Black and White Garage Newbury had it for sale for a while and seem to have auctioned it through H&H.

Prior to that it was listed at GBP 9,000 - I think possibly by B&W Garage.

It has done the rounds one way or another. Probably quite a difficult car to sell as really only a real Alfisti would consider buying it.

very nice looking 60's car, much better than anything brit of the era

although I know some would argue the E type is a better car I've never seen the attraction...

Narrower track than a Morris Moggie, I heard.

exactly that with the E type, a wider track would have transformed it, always looks way out of proportion
