underseal recommendations?
Hi folks,
I'm in the middle of a fairly major restoration on my 33. (Taster below) I've just finished patching up the cills and floor pan and am thinking about how to protect it.
I'll be using dinitrol in the cills & cavities but for the actual floor pan, I'm looking for something similar to the original underseal/stonechip protector.
I was wondering if those who have been here before have any recommendations? I want to stay away from the bitumen based stuff as I'd like to paint the underside once it's finished.
Any pointers appreciated!!

Left hand drive?
Anyway. Sorry, sidetracked!
I quite like Gravigard, particularly for areas to be body coloured like sills, front and back panels.
It takes paint very well, and so far as i know, very tough and resistant, served me well to date at least

Re: underseal recommendations?
I thought it looked weird. But if I'm honest, i didn't know whether any of the other European 33s had right hand side fuel filler anyway?
It just struck me as different looking and the tax discs on that side too.
I'm clearly an anorak of some measure!

Re: underseal recommendations?
Upol Raptor is very good and tintable its for pickup load areas so very hard wearing but flexible I've used it on my Sud its over paintable as well
Re: underseal recommendations?
Another option is Upol Gravi Tex.
Like Simon said with Raptor, it is painted over when dry.
There is also a trade stone chip that seems to be just as good.
Photos are under a job at work with satin finish black 2k paint. The other is how I did my car. Sorry pics are a bit iffy the light isn't that good.
Hope it gives you some more options.

Re: underseal recommendations?
I've used the gravi tex stonechip and it covers really nicely and is perfectly fine to paint over as has been said.
one other thing I would say though is I use an etch primer first on bare metal areas and then the stonechip to ensure it sticks properly. not 100% needed I guess but adds a little more insurance for keeping things nice and sealed in

Re: underseal recommendations?
Agreed,
I never guard over bare metal either, same with seam sealant too. Always a liberal rustproof priming first

Re: underseal recommendations?
Thanks folks. I'm going to get a sample of the gravitex and see how I get on. My brother and I have just taken delivery of a s2 cloverleaf and a s2 ti, both in need of attention so I have to get the finger out with my s3!

Probably was Johnboy, Theyre pups but worth saving.
Well I've just ordered a gun and two bottles of the gravitex to see how I get on with it.
