MOT 9AM on Monday

Post by STEVE5M »

My local indie garage are testing the sprint. They are doing a pre-mot and if it all works out they will go official. Everything works; I replaced the wipers today and checked all the items on the mot. My bloody fingers are bloody well crossed!

If the MOT goes ok my No1 son is using the sprint for driving lessons and when he passes it will be his motor. That leaves the way clear for me to get s sud saloon. Smart, huh?

Happy New Year one and all.

The pre-mot was not as bad as I had feared. I was aware of some rust near one of the drivers seat mounts. That was always going to need a bit of welding and from the safety point of view I would always want that area to be sound. Rear offside brake 'lazy' :?: Emissions are also too high. Some rubbers have split and a headlight is misaligned but otherwise ok. Welding to be done on Tuesday. Mot Wednesday.

Can't wait to take the GTV6 down for its MOT in May! :D

Thanks for all your kind words.

As you say. On the road by Saturday.

The sprint will be wearing L-plates and my son will be driving! This seems appropriate as I passed my test* in a 5M which became my first car.

It should be interesting while he is getting used to the pedals....

@alfachris. It went ok. The final bill was just over £200 and I can now get the L-plates on the car tomorrow! There were some advisories the worst of which is a comment that some welds are covered by underseal and could not be examined. Also, in order to pass the emissions test they have tweaked the carbs and when the idle jets are in play there is a roughness or fluttering of the throttle response.

By the time the next MOT is due the car should belong to my Son and it will be his problem!

I can now turn my attention towards getting hold of a nice Sud Ti for the summer!
