CAF Christmas with Christophoros!

Post by PETROLHEAD »

Hi all

well, its almost November, and before you know it the Christmas Insanity will be upon us all and we won't know our headlamp from our hareness!

a great bit of news is that Christophoros, Supercharged16v, and our International Moderator, and Club Alfa Cyprus fame, is here with me on November 29th! :P

He'll be over in Blighty for business, and as previously, Chris is making the effort to get over to me at Newark to spend the night on decent beer, hairy pigs bits, and other delightfully english bar snacks! before retiring with his yet to be aquainted bed mate!

DSC_2183.jpg

This sounds like the perfect time to have a little bit of a get together for a Christmas drink and bite to eat, hence the post to hear some suggestions of placing and venue, and a gauge of attendance.

As always, sadly we are a little widely spread to attract everyone to one place, so if we're too far to be practical, understandably, it would also be nice if some local pockets of CAF members had their own bit of a doo and posted up what they did once the hangovers have receded!

As usual, and to kick things off, I'd like to put forward the Great Northern Inn, NG23 6NT, for good beer and great wholesome food, aswell as a deal no doubt, as they do for our pint n pizza evenings.

Also, if folk fancy a bit of a change, we have Ashiana Indian restaurant down the road at Muskham Roundabout on the A1, NG23 6HN.

details can be seen here, aswell as their on site accomodation rooms for any weary (drunk!) would be traveller!

the more the merrier, so floor is open folks, let us know your thoughts :D

not a chance in hell of me, or anyone else come to that, turning up in a sud in late november mate :D

for one thing mine won't be done.

for another it will be cold and damp with the roads filthy and covered in a layer or road salt. not the conditions to start un-doing years of hard work.

or it should be once this un-seaonably mild weather breaks :)

From experience... will there be snow next month ?

I mean... snow which would justify shutting down motorways ?

with a couple of exceptions but thats a different story! :x

We'd love you to come keith, where too is still yet to be decided, which leads me nicely on to my next bit,

Where we going then?

I think we might need to put it to a vote then eh, or we're going to go nowehere! :D

Its getting a bit late in the day, and suggestions for anywhere else haven't quite been forthcoming, but that's perhaps because most folk are happy with the choices either way so far?

So, to assume that, it narrows it down to the Great Northern Inn, Carlton on Trent, good pub grub, pizza's and beer etc,

or Ashiana Indian Restaurant, Muskham, for a re-arrangment of your lower intestine and a few Cobra's! :o

only joking of course, the Ashiana is very nice, but would likely be a few quid dearer, something to consider at the pending festive period possibly?

Both venues are literally within yards of A1 junctions, so little difference in the loigistics, so what do folk fancy?

I'll need an idea of numbers pretty sharpish either way, so to kick start off

I am easy Shrew, but that doesn't help so I will say the Great Northern sounds good. As long as we can all park up, I'll find it :D
Sorry, don't know how to add to your list,

I thought Joe would want to come as well :p

Listen, I'll be driving down with Rodger that day coz he is picking up his Sprint.
So if I can convince him, instead of driving straight up North, maybe he can join us as well ;)

I'll have a word with him later and let you know :)
