Tyre choice

Post by Alfamet »

My newly-acquired South African import Sud has had a set of tyres fitted before it came to this country and into my ownership. Although they're quite satisfactory and probably popular in RSA, they are of a make I've never heard of so I've been keeping half an eye out for something better to fit when the time comes.

I've noticed that what I would call the premium makes - Michelin, Goodyear, Dunlop etc - don't make or have discontinued the tyre size 165/70r13 in recent years.

So, my question is, what's everyone running on their Suds and Sprints please? Any recommendations?

185/60/R13 Yoko A 539 for me.
Nice and grippy in the dry.

Hankook and uniroyal do them, and I’d consider both ‘decent’ brands. Continental do one too, but a bit more pricey.

Ceat still make a tyre in the right size and we’re an oe fit tyre on suds in the 70s if you’re into that sort of thing.
