The hurt car has returned home along with its rather ashamed driver ..
Its fair to say the picture does not do it justice! .. it actually is rather bad ...its going through the insurance, £250 excess and going down to be assessed at the repairers tomorrow ....
I recommend a wheel alignment check to see if the rear wheel was upset.
In any case, bumper is a quick fix, door is repairable, quarter panel is gonna be a b****c to get right.
It will require a shop with skills rather than a shop with filler if you know what I mean
Concrete post by all accounts... doing someone a favour at that too ...
The bit that tickled me was when he said "I new I hit something.. didnt know what to do.. so I kept on going" ... I was trying not to laugh ... harsh that I am ..
Anyway .. I don't have any feelings for that car/ new piece of metal ...
I was very watchful when Graeme pulled up next to Luigi when he returned home ...
It looks like a zebra up close .. the picture really does not show it at its best ...
Seems to be .. got it back yesterday last thing so what with the fading light and rain we have not had a propper look .. and we wont as Graeme headed down to London first thing this morning for the week . Tbh .. its not an issue as the repairer has a lifetime warranty on the work.
i might be on my own here but......i don't think that's too bad if the insurance company have done their usual thing and fitted new parts instead of repairing?
did it have a new bumper, door or rear 1/4 panel?
if they just repaired and repainted all 3 items then maybe it's a tad high, but as you've only the excess to pay i'd guess you couldn't care less
Really not too sure what they actually did , not seen the receipt. Graeme is home tonight so ill have a gander later. I think the majority was down to Labour charges though. I honestly thought it would have been a whole lot more than £1700 tbh.
No replacement parts all labour and paint - Nero Etna, they did say at the inspection / appraisal that it was not an easy colour to match due to the flow of the metal flake on the surrounding panels.
bodywork flow looks like new, have yet to see the final result due to rubbish weather and having to be away in London for work. Will try tomorrow if the weather is kind and post my findings.
The car was eventually washed and looked ok , however , the next day in direct sunlight you could clearly see that it had not been buffed correctly. Its not an issue as the work carried out has a lifetime warranty. just need to get it re booked ..
