I can't track down Sud valve shims

Post by Sir Baloney »

I've checked my clearances on the 105 GC engine for the first time since 1998 and I need four new shims- 2 x 3.75,1 2.70 and a 3.55 to get them right. Anyone know a source? Even Italian eBay isn't coming up with any.

John at JustSuds used to have some.

If I remember rightly I think that the shims off a Ford Escort/Orion fitted but please check.

I think I was told that the early golf and scirocco shims where the same , early 80s GTi .

But can't remember 100%

I have them, 3 euro for a new one, 2 for a good used one but I would need to check if I still have the sizes you need. It seems 2.70 is not available, this is an original Alfa box. Maybe from other brands or maybe there is something wrong with the valve/valve seat?

Many thanks bert305. This is good news indeed !
I need a 3.55, a 3.70 and two 3.75. So is that 12 Euros for new? In addition there will be postage costs, of course.
I suspect wear in the valve seats, too.

The Fiat ones are larger, same as Ferrari 308 (not 305..) and...Yugo.
I will check tomorrow what sizes I have. In the first post it said one 2.70, that must be a tipo then, 3.70 is a normal value.
