What wheels?

Post by jobeed »

Looking for wheel advice! I'm thinking about wheels and seats for the new Giulia. Wheels should be 6 x 15 with 108pcd or thereabouts. I want something close to period and a bit racy any suggestions? I really like the compomotive / compagnolo daytona / 5 star, but I think they are 14inch only? Except the Ferrari ones of course and I think I'll struggle to squeeze those in! + the price!

Also looking for seat ideas. Again looking close to period, something more supportive than standard but for use with standard belts?

All suggestions welcomed.

Just been trying to find the pix of a lovely pair of period replica bucket seats I had that I sold to BLS Tom a few years back for his SAAB.
Know he didn't use them, pretty sure he still has them..
They were a black old style bucket seat which would look awesome in it...
Giulietta JTD 170
Lancia Delta integrale
Lancia Flavia coupe 1.8 1963
Lancia Dedra turbo
Maserati 3200GT

I'm bad with people things
But I should have tried more

Thanks kev, Shrew.

Those wheels look great, I'm not quite up for spending another 600quid on the car this month though unfortunately!

Will put them on watch list. But pros and cons? About the same money for four new replicas from alfaholics or classic Alfa?

I like the alfaholics Gta replica wheels.

Tortoise shells for ultimate period, but those on eBay look good.

For a track oriented car, I'd go with alfaholics wheels. :D

Nice bit of kit that isn't it! Some interesting footage at the Nurburgring on youtube.

They also built a similar car for a customer in silver grey which is nice. Not quite so low, standard interior.

Hi. I think that the whole look of that car is lost by dropping it so low.

I know its a modern thing to do, but like Peugeot 205s, Puma's and similar they look better up and ready to go.

Also 105s are a very good handling car as standard and its easy to lose that mix of comfort and handling.

In reference to some of that there is an interesting but short article on original shocks in Practical Classics this month.

Yes I read that article, and am inclined to agree with you about this being too low, but when you see how it performs it's rather impressive chasing down what looks to be a 997 gt3.

It's not low enough there's a gap between front tyre and wheel arch

I'll try and do better when I build mine! It sits very high at the minute the chap was building it as a rally car apparently. I'm hoping it will be as simple as shorter springs as it's got new bilstien dampers and alfaholics suspension kit fitted. Just trying to arrange to collect it between Christmas and new year - very excited!

If you haven't had to notch the chassis and flip the steering joints it is to high

As I was unsure how mine would sit and what length of springs I rang john at just suds and he looked through his collection and using his judgment chose some that have turned out to be excellent. They are second hand which was fine as I was bored of buying new stuff and then it not fitting.

You could try the same thing with talking to Ian Ellis as I have found him very sensible with his advice and he most certainly knows his cars.

Have fun picking it up ad I hope there is no `interesting surprises' . :D
