As New 16v John Sismey Engine

Post by PETROLHEAD »

Here is something you don't hear of everyday, and if i'm honest i'd love to buy it myself, but i have been given the opportunity to promote the sale of a 1712cc 16valve engine, stock spec, but completely rebuilt to as new by none other than John Sismey, famed owner of Lahoma Engineering and builder of the 33 race car that Chris Snowdon often drove the wheels off to much success.

John is now retired, but seeing as he had the parts, he spent some of his time meticulously rebuilding the motor from crank out.

Starting with a new block, its has been reassembled with all new gaskets, seals, parts as neccessary, rebuilt oil pump, reskimmed flywheel, and completely stripped, cleaned, rebuilt cylinder heads.

To finish, all new timing belts, and all pulleys and tensioners checked and refinished.

It is as you see below, without the ancciliaries which are readily available or you'll already have if a 33 owner anyway.

Price is £895 ovno, which personally i think is a bargain, but close offers will be considered.

Feel free to pm or email me with interest

Thanks for looking

Bargain indeed. There is something to be said for not rebuilding your car till you have waited a couple of years and collected all these great deals. All you need is space and patience.

Hi,so is there a inlet manifold available of the shelf that would do the job or is it a case of a modification to be done to a standard one?
Cheers

Hi Mike,

Heres a link to German ebay,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alfa-Romeo-Su ... Sw9N1Vrdjk.

I have a pair of new manifolds, a pair of carbs (40s) and a 1.7 8v distributor, should have a throttle linkage also, the linkage would require some modifications,

its a common conversion, the attached link explians at lot more, http://www.alfasprint16v.fws1.com/photo2.html

I have a pair of manifolds to fit carbs to a 16v I'd be happy to sell.

If interested let me know and I will post some pictures.

No problem,

As quoted ,I have a pair of new manifolds, a pair of carbs (40s) and a 1.7 8v distributor, should have a throttle linkage also, the linkage would require some modifications,

The manifolds were sourced by Shrew within a group buy a few years ago, photographs of all the componets are available on request, i would prefer not to split,
open to reasonable offers.

Be aware of bad quality manifolds, made from porous material.
