Silverstone 8/9th October

Post by Marlow Sud »

Hi Guys,

We had a great time during qualifying which started dry with a few spits of rain and then got very wet.
The race on Saturday was dry and went very well.
The race today was wet and great fun. I got a little over excited at one stage and shot across the front of the Triplex Capri. Not my finest moment and I made a point of apologising to the driver later. Had trouble keeping the revs up. You will hear in the video that it is a bit rough below 5000rpm. I will sort that. Had a terrible start on Saturday so I made sure to give it plenty of revs at the start today. Feels like we were punching above our weight today. Brilliant weekend.

Well done to all of you - a great end to a very good second season for you! Does that make Malcolm the overall class winner?

Hi Bryan,

Thanks for the comment. Malcolm is Class D winner and we are waiting for confirmation that he is second overall based on Championship points. Second in the Championship could have gone to Malcolm or Stuart in the Triplex Capri. It was all down to Malcolm passing the Capri on the last lap at Club corner.

Brgds,
Simon

Hi Simon,

Even better! This years developments certainly seem to have helped with both performance and confidence in the cars - the Trofeo in particular looked demon on the brakes!

Hi Bryan,

Tom has absolutely transformed both cars. I was a bit shaken up after Castle Combe in 2015 and I had no confidence in the brakes or handling at the next meeting at Donnington.
Rockingham 2015 was when it became seriously good fun. This was the first outing after Tom had sorted out the brakes and suspension. The car can still go a lot faster round bends than my bravery/skill permits but it is fun trying to improve all the time. This winter I should be able to lighten the car by 25KG or more and I will be taking it to Tom for a thorough check over, repair as required and maintenance.

Brgds,
Simon

Apologies for the delay guys, videos are uploading to youtube as I type. Should be available tomorrow morning.
As Simon has said, a great finish to the season. The Suds have really made their presence felt within the ctcrc this year. Certainly has the usual runners talking.
I learnt at Silverstone that I was voted driver of the day for Snetterton! Thanks to all who turned up to support us.

Will post an update tomorrow to confirm the vids have uploaded.
Until then here is a link to Stuart Caie's video (Triplex 3 litre Capri) with a lot of me and Simon filling his mirrors!
Got him on on the last lap at Club.
