when did they get so steep?
know shrew mentioned to me before xmas that they now add postage fees into final value fees, but 10% of the total sale price???
surely it didn't used to be that much?
i'm listing a few fulvia parts for my mate jim, seems i'm stinging myself for some hefty final value fees!
still, it'll keep me in brownie points for integrale workspace rent
Yes Ebay has become very costly indeed, they've become very greedy in fact.
I'm not sure how or on what legal precedence they can charge you a fee based on a percentage of your own postage or shipping costs, it just doesn't seem to make any sense to a commoner like me!
They've also tried to cover a few other bases too, such as ending a listing early, which they can now charge you a final fee on depending on the circumstances, and my seller rating is now below average because of items collected in person and paid for in cash so both parties agreed to cancel the transaction.
Oh, and they have also opened their books to the Taxman too, so if you're self employed or business owner, you could potentially have hell of a job separating an attic find hobby or personal type item from a profit generating piece of stock!
After the fees more recently, i have wondered why i bother personally, which is a shame because i have on occasion met some good folk through ebay, and also managed to get some much needed parts out in circulation to those that need it.
It gets tougher all the time, and is now more full of idiots than it ever has been sadly....

sure it all change after everyone was listing something for 99p then charging £20 to post it rather than selling it for £18 and £3 postage. that way they only got stung on the 99p percentage for the sellers fee
my beef though is the 10%
got some doors on at the moment for jim, rare aluminium fulvia coupe doors, start price £400. if they sell at the start price that's £40 sellers fee, there's no upper limit to it! they have a section where you can check what the fees are so I looked, couldn't believe there's not an upper limit of say £20 commission for general sale items...
told Jim i'd cover the sellers fees thinking it'd be £20 or so to sell everything.....gonna be more like £100 when I've done!
still, got cheap rent for the integrale workspace so evens itself out I guess, just wish jim would get the cash instead of ebay
yeah you're dead right on that Kev, and ebay should have clamped down on the idiots selling at 99p with ridiculous shipping in an obvious attempt to negate the more reasonable fees that were around then, but instead we are all suffering now, big time!
Just try your hardest to get someone to come and do a cash deal on the drive, see if you can't save a few quid.
They brought it on themselves!

Saw on morning TV Martin off the money program mentioned that if you go on Ebay like now there is a special offer of 35% off final listing fees (on the banner bar) for a limited time, which means final fees will be at 6.5% not 10%. I just did it and have got the offer, just need to find things to sell now.

I did see that link mate and thought it'd save me a good few quid.....until I read that I had to activate it before I did the listings
i'm about £60 down in fees for doing jim a favour, never mind, cheap rent and all that
