Agip Sticker

Post by alfasuddriver »

Hello! Wondered if any CAF members could help? I'm looking to have an Agip anti-freeze sticker made and haven't got a good example of one to be be copied.

Could someone who has one take a photo of theirs so I could use it to copy from? I could also use the dimensions if someone could measure up. It looks like this but smaller on the Suds/Sprints........thanks in advance....

I could get a batch done and anyone who's interested is welcome to one (cost unknown at this point!)

Thanks Gary, it's in better condition than mine! Mine was on a screen from an old Alfetta broken up in the late 80's!

I actually had some made up for me last year but decided that they weren't good enough. The quality wasn't the best and the colours and font were all wrong so I rejected them and changed my supplier.

The latest stickers are very much better made and look 100% authentic so I've ordered a batch and these are being manufactured now.

Dave and Richard, your stickers are reserved and will be sent out as soon as they arrive from the suppliers.

Delivery is expected within the next two weeks.

On a separate note, I fancy getting my Sprint badge on the back re made as a sticker - more of a chromed look than the silver it is. Any recommendations?

Hi Colin

Is there any news on the likely availability date for the AGIP anti freeze stickers please?

Thanks.

I was speaking to my supplier this afternoon.
He's well on with the samples but is a bit of a perfectionist and wants to make sure that the replicas do not differ from the originals in any way.
Good for him. 8-)
More news very soon. ;)

Update:
The samples are back and looking really very good indeed so I've put a run in production. Price will be around £4.00 plus postage and they should be ready in around a fortnight's time if all goes to plan.

I have found an AGIP antifreeze sticker from a supplier on Ebay.co.uk which looks a bit similar to the ones on our Alfasud's, but is not exactly the same as it does not have the same framing around the text and is a slightly different colour. Also, they are not window stickers i.e. ones that have adhesive on the printed and applied inside the glass.

Not a bad copy, and maybe OK for under bonnet application.

Just shows how much attention to detail you have to apply if you want to get a classic car just right.

I am looking forward to seeing Alfamet's kosher reproductions in due course.

I've seen these on eBay but they look to be very poor copies compared to the originals.

To look authentic, the fonts on '70s and '80s Agip decals are close to modern 'Arial' but they are NOT 'Arial' and there are some subtleties missing from many reproductions.

It's common practice for most guys who remake decals just to slap on whatever is in their computer.

Neither my supplier or I don't like doing that and I'm having the original letter sets recreated for 100% accurate-looking replicas.

The decal is finally out to print!

After much research to find the correct font, it turns out it's a German road sign standard DN type. Definitely not Arial!

Sorry if this seems to have taken forever. I wanted the sticker to be as close as possible to the original item otherwise it wasn't worth doing.

The first batch of decals are due to be shipped out to me on the 29th and all of you who have reserved them on here will be given first dibs.

Thanks for bearing with me guys.

That looks really good Colin - wouldn't mind one myself if there are any left over after the preorders.

Nice work Colin.

The sample looks exactly like the one on the inside of my Super offside front 1/4 light - which someone unfortunately tried to scratch off many years ago. Luckily they failed, and although it is quite damaged I can still see approx. 90% of it.

The ink colours, fonts and framing on your sample are 100% correct and you could not tell your reproduction from the original - it is that good :D

Wow. Thanks for that. As I said before, I wanted it to be right otherwise it wasn't worth doing.

And the good news is that the first batch of decals are still on schedule to be shipped out to me tomorrow.

Here they are:
They're on their way!
They're on their way!
As promised the decals were sent out to me a couple of days ago so I'll have them in my possession next week.

I ended up having a good number of the decals produced and I'll knock them out at cost (£4.00 each) + postage to anyone who wants one or more.

I have an option on the order so that once this first batch gets sold I can have some more made up no problem.

Priority will be given to those of you who have reserved them before now on this Forum, which I'll post out as soon as I've received them, and then I'll put them on general sale after that.

I'll be attending National Alfa Day and looking after the Alfasud parking area. I'll be bringing some of the decals with me so if you want one or a couple come and see me. Saves the cost of a stamp!

Good old Royal Mail. Tracking the package containing the decals showed that it was stuck in their Sheffield Delivery Office for four days arriving at our local delivery office yesterday before it dropped through my letterbox this morning.

So, the decals are with me at long last. I'll be contacting everyone who's reserved one or more of the windscreen stickers very shortly to get them posted out or otherwise delivered.
