Well that was an inspired colour choice!
That size bandage should stop you trying to get working too soon!!

The bandage isnt the problem, but the moulded plastic splint up beyond my finger tips is a tad in the way! Lol!

Ok, a quick update for you gore fans, and its not a happy ending just yet :|

In fact, there's quite a set back.

I've had several more appointments at the hospital, and was summoned this morning to attend with nil by mouth due to the possibility of opening me up again for a 3rd time.

The dressing came off, the wound inspected to confirm that the infection is still present, many of my stitches have pulled out, and the tendon repair has possibly failed or pulled out aswell, Deep Joy!

and just to show those with a gruesome fetish what i mean, here's todays mess

2015-11-16 10.32.16.jpg

it looks more like Worzel Gummidge every day! lol!

the current prognosis is ever more antibiotics, now the size of a T Class Submarine, back again on thursday to consult with the original surgeon who will likely repeat todays advice that they are going to leave me alone until the infection is 100% beaten, and then operate all over again,

I can't wait!

Blimey Shrew,
Someone needs to take a sample of the poo in that wheel arch to analyse the bugs for counter Biological warfare purposes.
I am sure they will find the right antibiotic to sort it.
Best wishes,

Simon

Yeah it smarts alright! but i soldier on.....

ha ha!

I can't blame the car really, although it'd stop me kicking myself :x

I'm pretty sure the infection was all my fault, relying on superglue, tissue and tape to look after me instead of the professionals in a healthier environment, and cracking on to finish the job

which is great now by the way, really good solid 155 rear inner arches now! :P

Terrible, I just can't do it!

Already had a right telling off at the hospital, they can tell from the state of the hand and the dressing that i've not sat and watched Loosely Moraled Women or Antique Presenter for hour after hour!

Well. It will be 3 weeks tomorrow since the 2nd operation that repaired the tendons, and despite complications regarding infections, and suspicion that the repair had failed, i am currently very pleased and feeling quite positive about "The Finger!"

Healing has been good, and looks a different hand to the former pictures.

DSC_5659.JPG

They still want me immobilsed in the splint, and on a very limited exercise regime, but of course I'm starting to try and do some light duties, and its impossible to keep that splint on 24hours a day i can tell you!

Naughty i know, but, when i see the Physio Terrorists twice a week, they are always encouraged by the new movement and angles i achieve, so i think I'm doing the right thing,

Just dont let them know! :P

No-one could be that unfortunate!

I battered that one years ago when it got jammed into the rear sprocket and chain of my Honda CBR 600, which incidentally i stalled yanking it out of the 3rd tooth,

So i win!

Hey ! Shrew, that is looking better now.
Glad to hear the infection seems to be sorted and you are mending.
I did a similar thing with a bike chain with my index finger. Tooth on the sprocket split the end in two and when I pulled it out it fetched the whole nail off the finger.

Boys will be boys

Thanks guys, yep, i think we're mending, and hopefully avoided the threatened 3rd operation,

If i dont bust the tendons by working that is!

Keith, that sounds exactly the same kind of injury as my Honda thumb, split in two and nail out from the root!

It was 20 plus years ago i reckon, and still have a little scar at the end of the thumb that makes it look like a pair of bum cheeks!

Would you like to see my arse crack scar? :o

Snap!!
Yes, and it was also a Honda but not as glamorous as a CBR 600. It was also thirty odd years ago. Still splits open sometimes in the winter. :o

Thanks for the offer, but I will pass on the arse :D
