Steel crank - who bought it?

About 2 years or so ago, Bryan Shrubb advertised and sold a boxer steel crank. I think it was on the other forum. It reduced a 1700 down to just over 1600 and a 1500 to just below 1600 if I remember rightly.

Did anyone on here buy it, and if so do you want sell it to me?

Not sure how it would do both?
If you put a 1500 crank (67.2mm stroke) in a 1700 it brings it down to 1600.
If you put a 1700 crank (72mm stroke) in a 1500 it brings it up to 1600.

I was thinking about going down the steelcrank and rods route but wasnt sure how many extra revs it would give me? or the cost?
I think Arrow do H section rods but dont know who does the cranks.

Currently I have a crossdrilled and balanced standard crank and balanced standard rods with ARP bolt conversion and running that up to a rev limit of 8200.
Been like that for 5 yrs so far without problems.

Please share if you do find any info.

It was way back in 2012 and I don't actually remember who bought it, we had quite a clearout back then and bits went everywhere. Just to clarify, with 87mm pistons (1700) it gave 1660cc as it was a short stroke crank. Whoever bought it never asked any more questions so it's either in an engine and running fine or it's under a bench waiting to be used sometime!

If you want a steel crank (it only starts there, everything else must be man enough for higher revs) then speak to Arrow - as mentioned, they also do rods, etc, etc. Deep pockets required though. Steel cranks way back in the day used to be circa £1000, much nearer 3 times that now.

I bought that fine piece of steel from Bryan!

Sadly, as Bryan suggested, it's under a bench waiting for deployment.. Did have a chat with someone (can't remember who ) at BLS about it, and was told it was almost certainly intended to increase stroke in a 1500 block. My plan was to build a little screamer for my 33 1.5 SC, with an Alquati manifold I also acquired, and turn the humble SC into a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing.

However, the cost of the other bits required, and the lengthy restoration of the SC, mean it's still laying dormant. I've also decided that the original low mileage lump runs so sweet it would be a shame to retire it. Some Compomotive alloys are the only definite change from standard now.

The restoration is approaching the painting stage, and we're in a lean period at work, so as much as i would like to continue hoarding the crank, a cash injection would be most helpful. PM your number, and we can have a chat.

If 1660cc with 87mm pistons is correct, it will be a 70mm crank. Would be an interesting mix and match of 1712 block, Nissan or Alfa pistons, old or new style heads and Nissan/Alfa rods to make it work...
