Hi Ian, remember you and your sud very well, even when it was a 1300 in Auto Italia.

You might remember my old white with green trim sud from Aroc days, and to prove its age it was white with yellow trim when raced by someone called Frank Manning (I think you told me that !)

I still have the sud shell but it needs lots of work hence buying the Sprint last year to get back into racing.

Warning to the rest of us - Ian is very quick!

Barring any unforeseen disaster while getting my Sprint ready, I'm 100% going to be at Silverstone.

What has happened to 'big yella'? Did it sell?

Tim

Sorry, forgot to say I aim to enter

Silverstone, Donnington, Brands, Snetterton and one other.

I can't go to mallory due to a clash at home, so not sure which other to aim for.

I've never been to Combe, Pembrey or Thruxton and all 3 are a long run for me so not sure yet.

This is awesome!

When we set this forum up, i personally could only dream of having this many race cars and drivers actively involved with us, and yet here we all are, BLS, Ted, Tim, Ian, Simon, Adi, Rodger etc Pal Brovold etc across the waters, and soon to be more by the sounds of it, its incredible! (sorry for any ommissions, i really do mean everyone but i have a terrible memory!)

Undoubtedly we have the lions share of the best boxer engined race alfas in the country, some really nice, really quick, special, and historic kit, with equally dedicated owner/drivers.

I feel very very lucky to have you all here participating, i love it, and i hope this season brings all the very best of luck and results for all you folk, that i like to think of our adoptive "Team CAF"

The very best of British to you all, in what sounds like a very exciting season ahead....

:P :P :P

How about getting some CAF stickers done for competitors or for any other members for that matter?

I'd be happy to have one on my Sud and F Fords.

JB is quite right, some CAF stickers have been in the pipeline now for a while, along with some other bits n bobs including beanie hats, fleeces, stickers, tax disc replacements etc etc

I'm glad you're up for the idea anyway Ted, as the sticker design i had most in mind was the landing page, which is your sud anyway! ha ha!

Shrew, email the design to me and I'll get the people who do my company stuff to get it sorted. The season will soon be on us - my Formula Ford starts in mid March and I still might do a couple of AROC/ARCA if I can.

Hi Tim, yes happy days in the Auto-Italia!! I'm pretty certain your Sud was Frank Mannings, yellow wheel arches!I saw you had raced a Sprint last year in the AROC races,a couple of wins too :D My Sud had sat damaged for 6 years after being hit from behind at the Pembrey hairpin, finally got panels for him & found someone willing to take it on,got him back June 2013,raced him at Cadwell then got hit from behind again at Mallory hairpin   trashed all the new panels  Bodyshop did even better 2nd time round with no panels & he's back :) so really looking forward to racing him again.
I still have Big Yella raced him once last year :)
Looks like I will have to suffer Silverstone
Cheers Ian.

Does anyone know what Class they are in for the Pre-83 Touring car championship??I have looked on the regs & think my Sud will be in Class C 1600-2500cc My 1.7 engine is unmodified so will probably get spanked!!I have a 1500 engine I could put in if it got me into the class with all of you.Or should we all go into the Invitation Class??
What do you think guys.

Hi Ian

If we enter via the aroc then I think we will all be in the invitation class, that was the case last year when Simon and myself entered at Cadwell - I'm happy to be in the invitation group.

Even though I'm running a 1500, I'm going to enter via aroc as i'm hoping that means I just need to pay £40 to join Aroc, and won't need to spend £xx joining BARC and CTCRC etc.

Give Richard Murtha a shout to check, but the 1700 will run in the invitation I reckon, and we should all go in there via the aroc.

If you want to enter the CTCRC class and score points then it will need a 1500, but some of the CTCRC cars are fast so a std 1500 might be a bit down on power.

You won't get spanked overall, I managed to pass a V8 rover , a Firenza And hold off a 3 litre Capri at cadwell last year.

Well this all sounds really exciting, I'm just mad I won't be ready for this year.

My very understanding missus has "advised" me that I have another very important project to finish, before I devote any major time or money to the alfa, but when it's done I can "play" with the alfa to my hearts content!

I have to agree she is absolutely right. So I am getting that done ASAP. I will definitely have a car for next year. For the time being I will be coming to watch you guys!

I'll be running 1.7 8v on carbs, through a 1.2 transmission, konis and inboard uprated brakes, and a shrew special for the exhaust. I know that much 'cos they are the bits I've got so far!

Good luck to you all, this year!

Just work doubly hard! :D

All being well, looks like 3 Suds and 2 Sprints at Silverstone?

If we can all get to the same meeting with Adam then +1 Sud.

Shame Croft isn't on the list, we might have pursuaded the two Scottish a Suds to turn out.

Ian - do you know who has Martin Jones' old Sud?

Hi Tim, thanks for reply,I had Martin's Sud for a few years & sold it to Peter Smart who did it up & got it track worthy again & sold it to a guy whose name escapes me!I did introduce myself to him at Mallory Park 2013 where he was racing it in one of the Championships.
It would be fab if we only had to pay £40 AROC Membership to race with Pre-83 :) but if we do more than one race I expect we will have to join relevant club(s) Invitation Class for me! hope to do Silverstone,Castle Combe,Mallory Park,Pembrey & Snetterton :D .
I did drop an email to Richard Murtha last week ref.Invitation Class not heard back yet.
Ian.

I havnt heard anything yet either Ian.

I saw you emailed Richard, I might give him a try, or perhaps Nick from the club.

I did read that one Bertone coupe was thinking about joining, a chap from Scotland, but not sure. Will Dick's car was for sale pre Xmas I think so not sure what Will is up to.

You are right though, just 6 weeks to go....
