Re: Bigger wheels
Factory fitted 13" rims are fitted with 165/70/13 street tyres, but for track days I am using a set of 14" (5.5" 36ET) with Toyo R888R 185/60/14. With 14" rims you must fit 185/55/14 to get same overall diameter, but Toyo do not give such an option thus a bit of a higher gearing ...

Re: My sud overheats
Not really as I would like to keep it as stock as possible. Tyres currently used are Toyo R888R 185/60/14. Biggest problem is that I am participating in the up to 1500cc category with a 1286cc and 75bhp, against more powerful cars, but with 100% reliability and sensible but quick driving I managed t...

My sud overheats
Sorry for not seen the post earlier. I had a similar problem with my 1978 Alfasud 1.3 Super and I have replaced the rad with a new one from Valeo. Best testing under summer Cyprus temperatures was done this year as I was participating in the Classic Cars Time Attack Meetings and temperature didn't g...

Carb help
Last update regarding the air filtration. A new intake manifold (from the 1.3Ti) was traced and fitted quite easily. Last mod to be done was to upgrade the air filtration set up in order to avoid hot air coming into the engine resulting to a lower power output. You can either use the stock air filte...

Me again. The new carb set-up was race tested last Sunday and I assure you it is worth the buy. Though you must bear in mind that the inlet manifold needs the 1bbl to 2bbl adapter plate (included in the kit) and must be fitted in a way that the carb's fuel supply is facing at the front (see pics) ot...

Car is ready for Sundays race. Temperature is around 27C. If everything works as it should be I will give you important installation details as not everything was easily fitted.
I will also update some photos. Tip: The car is definetely for powerful. Crossed fingers.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Last Saturday had the opportunity to test the new carb in action when took part with the Alfa Romeo Cyprus Club in a circuit meeting. Well the car had more power and speed on the straight line but around curves the engine was suffering with fuel starvation/flat spots. It looks that...

Re: Carb help
Yes must be my Alfasud you have seen before. Currently the car is fitted with 14" alloys, to accommodate wider tyres for classic cars circuit racing. Steel ones will later be refurbished and be fitted on leaving the alloys for the racing events. I will take a photo of the new carb set-up and up...

Hi there. Mine is a 1978 Alfasud Super 1286cc as well and I have recently replaced the Dellorto FRDA32F single choke with a Weber 32/36 DGV 5A manual choke. I have purchased the weber kit that includes a free flow air filter and most importantly the 1bbl to 2bbl manifold adapter. The engine has now ...

Re: Diff Question
Chris at 6000rpm I get around 75kph with 2nd and 105kph with 3rd if that helps. I can make a copy of my Alfasud's manual if you want. Has gear ratios, differential ratio and max speed per gear at 6000rpm.

Good to know. A big thank to our Chief Mechanic......Chris, for a perfect car preparation!!
p.s. Chris prepared apart from my own Alfasud, his own cars 33 16V & 33 1.7 8V & 75 2.0 and friends 75TS & Sprint QV. All cars took part to the meeting.

Advance timing
Chris do we have to check my Alfasud's timing as well? Yes?
The car though was feeling very tractable (as far as the 68bhp could give) and I managed to drop last year's track personal time from 1:30:2 down to 1:28:9.

Exhaust overrun pops n bangs....
If advance timing is correct then check idle mixture. With a rich mixture you get less pops n bangs in comparison with a lean one. That is with a single choke 1978 1.3 Super.

Re: Sprint door mirrors v tall people
You don't have to remove the seats or even unscrew the front rail bolts. Just the rear ones.

Re: Sprint door mirrors v tall people
Very simple. Just push fully forward the seat to give you easy access to the bolts and unscrew them enough to enable you lift the plates and turn them by 180 degrees.

Following the above seat modifications and with the seat further back outside door mirrors are easier used. I have both originally fitted mirrors.
Hope above tips help your son's driving set-up.

I'm a 6ft 2" and solved the legroom problem by reversing (turning 180 degrees) the seat rail rear bolt stopping plates. As per attached photos.
BTW mine is a 1300 Super 1978 4dr but I believe seat arrangement is about the same.
