Aussie Sprint

Hi all
I finally found all of you!
Here is a pic of my Sprint as it is so far, finally found a set if Simmons for it to match my GTV. Some of you may recognise it.
Looking forward to some great advice and info. Site looks great.

Good to be remembered
It was actually doing the GTV wheel bearings while waiting for water pump and timing belts to show up. All done now.
Looking at front camber at the moment, it a bit much after lowering the car.
I have shimmed the rears for a little camber to clear the guards with the new wheels, they are 15x7 and now just clear
The fronts are at about 4degrees neg. I want to get it to about 2.5-3neg, so a bit of playing still to do. What do you run?
I got my lowered springs from Peter at justsuds, is it usual to get this much camber when lowering?
I should post up a pic of the GTV as well

Yeah well, 4 degrees might be a bit too much, but yes its pretty normal
I'm actually playing with camber on my 33 as well now....
I've been stupid when installed the koni front inserts and coils. I opened up the holes on the front struts so that I could straighten up the wheels a bit, but as it turns out, it was probably the worst thing I ever did.
Track days, my car CONSTANTLY rubs on the outer sidewall of thy tire, which is flipping annoying and destroys the tires quite fast.
Note - its still at negative camber, but I'm at 1.5 degrees.
I'm changing to unmessed with front struts now, and stiffer top mounts (there were 2 kinds), so this should give me more rigidity and more negative camber and should cure my problem

Would you now need to be looking at very different steering geometry now you are rear wheel drive

Oops should have read your reply better, you are talking about your 33 not the Sprint.
What effect does the rear wheel drive have on the sprint steering?

Well mate, to be fair, the rear wheel drive is NOTHING to do with the standard setup. Have in mind that I moved the whole rear suspension up, by fabricating new spring plates and new higher shock absorber mounting points.
That one has a lot of tow out and negative camber, for track days.
What you need to worry about is not to have too much tow out and negative camber on your daily driver.
Doing that on my 33 caused me to destroy the tyres in less than 3000 khms :/

I was well worth the effort getting that stuff. It's amazing how simple detailing can improve a car.

Next job is to replace the pedal box wite the spare one I have.
The one in the car is a bit rusted, so I have cleaned up the spare and will paint it and install.
A big job but worth the effort, once that is done there are just a few small spots to respray and it's done.
Unless I put the 16v in it that is sitting in a mates shed.
They are never finished are they

Have been using the sprint every now and then and love it.
One thing I have noticed is that the torque steer is much more noticeable with the deeper dish wheels, when I put the standard wheels back on it is nowhere near as noticeable.
Would it help if I gave it a bit more toe-in with the simmons on?
Its such a fun car to drive and I really like it with the simmons and would like to tame the torque steer a bit.
