Suds in the Sun

Calling all Sud owners, we need your help.
A potentially great event is on the cards for 2015.
At most shows nowadays Suds are thin on the ground, the highlight and biggest collection of recent years was National Alfa Day 2009 when 31 Suds in various models and condition were there on the day, since then only a smattering here and there. We aim to beat that number.
I've been in touch with Bryan Alexander and John Griffiths of MITCAR and they have agreed to give us space at what I consider to be the best Italian car event of the show season. Bryan is a real Sud enthusiast being a big part of the Alfasud register, John is a real Italian car nut who is a fan of most makes so both guys are keen to have us there.
We will have a dedicated model parking area for Suds so it is a unique chance for us Sud enthusiasts to show everyone what great cars they are, and make sure we get the cudos fo potentially being able to steal the show....
I'm sure that CAF itself will be well represented with Shrew and myself in attendance so a chance to put faces to names rather than just a keyboard, maybe given the amount of time until the event we may get a bit more organised.....
For those that don't know, MITCAR stands for Midlands ITalian CAR day, so the clue for the venue is in the name, it will be in the midlands somewhere. The venue has yet to be confirmed but judging by previous years at venues such as Chatsworth & Burghley Houses it will be a great one. They are almost always at Stately Homes as it gives a chance for all the family to enjoy the day with House & Gardnes to keep the MRS/Kids happy whilst we chat away
The date will be mid August I'm told although that will be confirmed around Feb next year. As soon as I know more details I will post them on this thread.
So, who is up for making 2015 the year that all those Suds turned up at MITCAR?
Everyone who has a Sud that is near to readiness must surely now use this as an inspirational chance to be part of a big event, get crackign guys, you have 8 Months to get the car done.
Shrew, that includes you mate
So please, all guys of all Suds whether that be early or late cars, all models not just Ti's, please please do make the effort to come along to what has the makings of being a great day out in August sunshine. Just imagine the pics now.......a long line of Suds.....can we beat 31??

Kev,
This is a great idea. The number of Suds at Alfa meets have plummeted over the years and I often feel disappointed at Alfa Day when I only see 2 or 3. In the late 90's it was so exciting to see an array of Suds and Sprints, mint and mid-restoration (I.e with a panel in primer lol). I'll be there (as long as the dates don't clash with family commitments) and I'll try and persuade my Audi driving brother to drive my Sprint there too. Looking forward to it already!

exactly the thing mate, suds at events have been declining for some time apart from the nice blip in 2009.
there are loads of early S1 ti's coming ready for completion now, my own amongst them, so wouldn't that be something to see a number all in line!
but seeing all the different models would be great too, 4 doors, SC's etc.
seeing some in mid restoration would also be great, no need to feel that your car has to be in tip top condition, all will be welcomed. in fact, to beat the 31 cars of 2009 we need everyone to get on board!
I should add that sprints and all other Alfa's will of course be most welcome at MITCAR so don't be put off

If it doesn't clash with a race date, I'll tow the sprint racer over......after all mine is actually registered as an Alfasud Sprint.

Count me in Kev, I'll be there.
So this is definite, the 2015 MITCAR event, just the venue to be confirmed.

I will contact a guy to see if he will join in.
Top man.

100% confirmed now mate, been waiting for the final nod but glad it's now sorted out.
i really wanted to get the maximum time so folks can press on with a meaningful target, no good saying "we're having a meet in 2 weeks" when cars are in various states of being finished.
hopefully the timescale will mean folks can plan well in advance.
time/venue yet to be confirmed but if i had to guess i'd say it'll be either of the middle sundays in august, before the bank holiday one at least. certainly hope it won't be the bank holiday weekend anyway, that's my cadwell bsb weekend

Hi Kev,
I will bring my Race car along if I can - as long as the date doesn't clash with a race meeting.
Agreed though, great idea to get a really good showing of Suds!
Have a great Christmas!
Ted

Brilliant, thanks guys. 2 race prepped cars in the display is a cracking addition.
Incedentally, if anyone has a car that they think isn't up to show standards or won't be fully finished then please do come along, the more the merrier. We need to beat 31 cars. It would also be great to see cars in all sorts of conditions so it doesn't look like a group of sunshine worshippers on a day out.

a painted yet empty shell would be a great addition too mate, sure there are folks who own suds that would love to see the bones of their own cars and be more than interested in where to try and treat/save the cars.
great if you could mate

4 S1 ti's, and at least one more that hasn't added their name yet, when was the last time you saw that many in one place....still plenty of room to get S2 & S3 cars in there.
nice to see sprints coming too
