VIN plate orientation

Morning all, finally getting around to refitting my VIN plate in the engine bay of my late (1988) Sprint (even Alfa rivets seem to corrode 
).
Can’t remember which way it faced - presume this way around (with the numbers & letters facing to the outside of the car) and not the other way round (facing into the engine bay) - that would make sense to me, so it can be read from standing next to the car.
Could anyone confirm before I rivet it in place please?
