Nope, quite disappointed really, nothing sud related. Mainly beer and sweets and some socks.

Quite happy with that to be honest :lol:

I got my oil filter from Justsuds (thanks John), so I will be doing an oil change this week.

Plus, I treated myself to a brace of AVO double-adjustable dampers for the front end. But they are made to order so won't arrive for another month or so.

When I spoke to them about shockers for the 33 they literally just laughed.
Haven't spoken to them since.
Quite a few people use them in rallying so at least the product is good.

Hi Fruity - well, I have had a pair of steel body double-adjustables on the rear for a couple of years now and they are certainly better than my old SPAX units. The adjustment threads have a bit of surface rust now, but that is just down to lack of maintenance and Winter road use. Spherical bearings are working well, even without the rubber booties that I sourced separately and didn't fit. I have been trying to get a pair of front dampers for a while now, but always through Demon Tweeks, who sent me the wrong units on two occasions. This time I have ordered direct from AVO and they are being made to order, so at least I should get the right ones!

The Green Machine uses universal coil-over dampers front and rear, as you know AVO do not manufacture struts that are a direct fit to the Alfa 33. Like most manufacturers, their parts range starts at B(MW) :cry:

I wonder, is there a compatible strut from a different model that would work? I am guessing the hub fixture could be adapted to the 33, and the top mount could also be replaced with a universal bearing plate (maybe slotted to get the full camber advantage?). Just the steering arm to figure out.

I think the Alfa Arna may have used the Nissan Cherry struts, so it must be possible???

The Arna used the entire 33 front end. struts, hubs, crossmember and suspension arms I’m pretty sure it even used the sud rack and column as they had a sud steering wheel .

Thanks Lou - I guess that rules out that particular line of enquiry, but I'm sure there must be struts out there that are similar enough to adapt?

My default now is too talk too GAZ.
They have been so helpful every time that I have spoken to them.
They have built me some struts for the rally car too go outboard.
As with many projects hindered is a wonderful thing. As soon as the front end has been road tested i will be speaking to them about building me a pair of hybrid struts.

Do you have a pattern of some donor struts they could work with?

AVO didn't offer me a bespoke service. They didn't offer me anything at all.

Hi Fruity - can't help at all with a pattern, as I use the universal twin-tube dampers on the Nova (the double wishbone suspension is based on a Lotus 23 racer). I hear good things about GAZ though, so if they do a custom service you should be fine 8-)

Rob gave me a £50 Demon Tweeks voucher which will come in handy, Clio due to get some use this year. 8-)
