Single choke solex tuning?

Hi guys does anyone have any experience with the solex single choke carb? I have a 1.3 super that seems to be running lean, it’s got a new carb fitted and is fine when you put your foot down. However low to mid throttle it feels like it’s holding back as thought the idle jet is too small. Iv wound out the idle screw as far as I dare, to a point where it’s running it’s best at tick over, the same with what I presume is the air screw. Iv tried it with the screws wound in more and it seems worse.

I’m wondering if this new carb may be jetted differently to the original?

Col

Have you still got the original carb?
Maybe fit the jets from it.

Is the vacuum advance operating ok?

Hi Col - according to my Haynes manual, the Solex C32 DISA 21 single-choke has the following jet sizes:

Main jet = 127.5
Main air metering jet = 150
Idle jet = 65
Idling air metering jet = 80
Choke jet = 55
Accelerator pump jet = 45

That was used on the early 1200. Later models used the C32 DIS40 and DIS41, C32 EIES 43, 44 and 45. Jets in the following order:
Main
Main air correction
Idle
Idle air correction
Econostat
Accelerator jet
Accelerator bypass jet

C32 DIS 40 = 137.5, 165, 62, 90 or 80, 80, 45, 50
C32 DIS 41 = 135, 165, 62.5, 80, 60, 50, 50
C32 EIES 43 = 122.5/137.5, 190/180, 55, 135/120, 45/10, 55, 0
C32 EIES 44 = 120/137.6, 170/180, 55, 135/120, 0/100, 55, 35
C32 EIES 45 = 120/135, 170/190, 55, 135/120, 0.85, 55, 35

Depending on the model there seems to be quite a lot of variation.

It turns out the carb is the original one that’s been refurbished. I opened up the idle and main jet by .05 and it’s purring like a kitten

Job done
