Flipping bangers

Post by LooLooSud33Spider »

Any one else catch a prog called Flipping bangers ! They bought a straight looking 155 widey. Started to fix the rusty bits refurbed the wheels serviced the engine then decided they weren’t going to be able to make a profit so they scrapped the whole car with all the good new bits they’d just done. TOOLS !!

They could of at least stripped it for all useable parts. They’d of got some money back but OH NO they have to crush the whole thing. closing shot was of the engine being removed from underneath using the Big grabby thing
I was gutted .

I have just watched it Lou, and it was even worse than I thought.
The welding that they had done looked quite thorough and as you say the service on the engine and wheels and tyres was good, and mint interior etc etc.
For the show they could have said they scrapped it and moved it on, but that was just pointless tv wasting some perfectly good, rare parts in a save able car :x :x :x   .
Very disheartened .

I’ve recently started to watch the Gas Monkey guys . And yeah they kinda funny. I used to love watching Roadkill
On Youtube I enjoyed watching them turn complete POS’s in to runners in only a few days . And was insanely jealous of the ease with which they could get almost any part for the most obscure vehicle . Yanks seem to have the classic car parts scene sewn up.
If only Sud parts were as easy to get .

Oh yeah the Draguar was Class. Hot Rod Drag week looks like a blast . 4000 hp road legal cars towing a trailer full of spares and rebuilding your engine at the side of the road at 2am . Imagine doing that on the M4 the traffic Wombles would loose their minds

Absolutely disgusted. End of.
Watched this 'entertainment' with an open mind hoping that there was a successful outcome and another one could be saved. What a joke.

never seen the show, or heard of it, will try and find it although as has been said, the ruination of a perfectly saveable car just for tv "enjoyment" is terrible

Well, if that's the state of TV car shows now then we're all up the creek.
The Amos Brierley lookalike I've seen before on another show, must be equally memorable.
That 155 was perfectly saveable, they'd done the majority of welding, fitted a cambelt, new brake compensator plus even refurbished the wheels! Then crush it on the home straight? :?:

Guess it didn't have a VW or Porsche badge, not fasionable to slate those on TV.

Dross.

Did not know about Roadkill. They are rather good fun, shall be watching a few more of them. Thanks.

The yank parts thing seems to be a con as I have seen professional restorers with common 60's mustangs struggling to get the right parts and paying a lot to get rid of

incorrect parts sent from the US.

One chum said I was wrong, sent off for three belts for a Buick, Paid high postage and taxes, then only one fitted.

I just started to watch a few of these and I must say I find both of the ‘stars’ annoying and incompetent, as for giving up their daytime jobs and living of the profits......it’s a tv show duh! Don’t you get paid FFS!

I think Clarkson has a lot to answer for when it comes to this kind of rubbish - though Top Gear was entertaining (esp when it came to crushing Marinas with pianos) it did start out a trend, e.g. Fifth gear trying to ape Top Gear by proving an immaculate Mercedes W124 saloon wasn't bomb proof, by putting a bomb in it. Morons.
