Finally after years of half hearty searching for a workshop I've finally moved the 33 In. So I'll be on here pestering you guys and extracting your knowledge. First thing will be a massive strip down. Of the 33 ; )

Might do a rebuild thread/blog

So finally I have taken the engine out. Clutch and bearing are knackered so will be looking to replace those.
Can anything be done to flywheel? Lightened etc. And any optional clutches?

That all looks very familiar. My sprint is similarly dismantled although that’s to treat rust in the engine bay. Yuk

You must be aware of goodies like these if you’ve a racing 33.

Hi chap
Glad to see your sorting your 33. Shrew aka the boss on here was doing exchange flywheels that had been lightened. Clutches. Theirs a few upgrades. But I'll wait till the race boys and girls chime in . Your getting the heads ported as well so I read on FB .nice
Good luck with the build 👍

Flywheels can be lightened, I’m not an expert in doing it, what spec is the engine going to be, high revs etc ? There may be a trade between too light and too heavy .

Mine has a standard flywheel lightened, and a paddle clutch, I think helix. The clutch is either on or off, not much in between. It came with it done so I don’t know exact specs.

We’re also running a Helix paddle clutch. As Tim said they are a bit all or nothing and Would be horrendous in traffic (It’s bad enough just pootling round the paddock) were also running a very light flywheel that I had made.

Yeah might leave it to the engine builder tbh, I'm thinking about putting a set of carbs on it and getting rid of the injection. Gives the engine bay a fresh clean look too.

I’ve used standard clutches on closer to prod spec racers with no issues. My 1700 8v was about 130bhp and always ran a std clutch.

Like Tim. I’ve used std clutches on 1800 8v 140hp without issue. Currently running a Helix paddle But it’s now 180hp 16v But even that had a std clutch for a while.
