Replacement exhaust recommendations?

My centre exhaust is just starting to corrode through, and has a slight leak that you can hear but hardly see. So I thougt I'd replace it from my hoard of spares. All good, I have a Walker centre in reasonable condition. On trying to shift the rear silencer, I noticed it's pretty rotten too. I thought I had one of those too, but I must have used it. So it turns out I have 2 spare centre sections, the other one being a Timax.

It looks like I have a few options for replacing the rear:
1) Cheapest at £40 delivered is from Online Automotive, part# ALF6022 - no brand listed:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rear-Exhaust- ... 2146612354
2) New pattern MTS at £49 delivered: http://www.alfasud-parts.co.uk/catalog/ ... -2609.html
3) New original at £94 delivered: http://www.alfasud-parts.co.uk/catalog/ ... -2611.html
4) New stainless at £146 + del: http://www.justsuds.co.uk/pages/jsprice.htm

Not sure if it fits a sud but I have an almost brand new centre section from an 89 sprint. Probably done 100 miles max, also got the manifold (looks original/old but no damage) and the rear box which also looks fairly recent.

Hi brussels, I think the later Sprints were all 1.7s, so no good for a 1.5, but thanks anyway.

I wouldn't worry about the difference, personally, if you can make it fit it will work perfectly well in my opinion :)

I'd chop your centre box out and replace with a piece of pipe and go stainless on the end if you are keeping the car.
Make it sound nicer and you wont have to replace it again. Its not that often that the pipe actually rots, its where the water condenses

Thanks for looking junior.

Not planning on modifying it by fitting a 1.7 exhaust or a straight through as that would involve an expensive call to my insurer. Got to be standard, Ideally I'd fit a stainless system, but as I have 2 spare centre sections I think I'll just get a pattern MTS one from Peter at Alfasud Parts, assuming I get his PayPal invoice. Failing that, someone on the Facebook Sud register has suggested this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alfa-Alfasud- ... 1318054649 It's listed as part# AR7X-149. AR7X is a Timax part I think.

Hi. Just moved the car and found it .

Its a Quinton Hazel one from a good few years ago. never used and solid. Only thing wrong is the very end has been shortened. I was just going to

add a bit of tube possible even a chrome one ! Then I realised it was the wrong one for my car

Havea photo of the other side if you want it but looks just the same bar a less dented from sitting around how ever many years.

I ordered one from Peter at http://www.alfasud-parts.co.uk. It arrived today. I suspended it to check fit, and I was mighty pissed off to find its massive can was only 2cm from the rear suspension beam, compared with 8cm for the original. So it would clash over bumps and would probably be dangerous over big ones. The tail pipe was also much longer. So I looked up the part number stamped on it: MTS 65180, which is for a 33 1.7IE sportwagon according to the MTS catalogue http://www.mtsspa.com/catalogue.aspx. Unbelievable. So it's going back for a full refund. And I have to cancel my Saturday MoT :(

1.7 can is longer, meaning it overlaps the beam axle

1.7 can hangs much lower

1.7 can has insufficient clearance

1.5 can - how it should be

Long tailpipe for estate 33 (not a big deal to shorten)

I returned the 33 1.7 Estate exhaust supplied as an Alfasud 1.5 exhaust back to Alfaud Parts. They received it on 6th June - no refund yet, though, 9 days on. Is this typical of how they treat customers?

I ended up buying this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332146612412 - It's OK, but I had to bend the tailpipe down a bit to stop it fouling the bumper.

How's the sound of your exhaust now?
