Hi Guys,

There will be five Alfasuds (Richard Drake, Ted Pearson, Malcolm Jeffs, Simon Jeffs, Duncan Leftley) and a GTV6 (Richard Leggett) racing.
Currently the Class D table leader is the MK2 Lotus Cortina on 34 points with Malcolm close behind on 30 points.
Its a good track for Suds.

Brgds,
Simon

Hi Guys,
Anyone near Snetterton or coming to Snetterton on Saturday with an Alfasud throttle cable then please let me know.

In practice today, the throttle started playing up and 50% of the cable is frayed at the end.

Any help much appreciated. Pls call on 07831 599377

Good luck, I was planning to come down tomorrow but sadly the weather has put me off.

Let us know if the cable works out tonight, I think Ian has moved over that way somewhere if you need other options.

Dave Ashford / Brunswick is in Ely but doubt he will be open tomorrow.

I'm not even sure how you could bodge that up as a last resort, but fingers crossed.

Thanks Tim. Richard Drake has been my saviour with a new cable.
Qualification in the rain has been our best result yet!

Congratulations to you all, does this mean we have to pray for more rain for tomorrow?
Hope the go-pros were on.

Hi Keith,
Its forecast for a dry day tomorrow so you will see a very different set of results.
I think that Ted will win it in the dry as well though. He will be duelling with the Mk 1 RS 2000.
The 3 litre Capri I was duelling with today will leave me for dust.
Videos to follow.
All the best,
Simon

Had a great qualifying this morning, a bit out of control at times but entertained Ted I think.
The race was excellent fun, I got around the Escort off the line and kept him behind until the end of the back straight.
Both Ted and the Escort were quickly off down the road in their own race. I was very slowly making a gap between myself and the next car back, a red/gold Escort with Richard right behind him.
I then had a big tank slapper at Hamilton which undid all my hard work.
Richard got in front of the Escort and I could see him reeling me in, he got past me on the inside around Coram on the last lap. Last corner and then it was a straight drag to the line. I crossed the line half a bonnet length ahead of Richard to keep third :o
A really excellent day for all of us today, a great Alfasud show and the cars are all in one piece.
Congratulations to Ted for an excellent win. Today was the first race from the 2016 season that the MK1 White Escort didn't win it's race.
Tomorrow should be dry so as Simon said above the finish positions will be a little different to today but will still be highly enjoyable no doubt.
Have front/rear video but will take me a couple of days to sort. Will post a link here as soon as I can.

Cheers guys,
I am starting to feel like the little boy in Simon's clip.
So pleased to hear you all did so well.
Great to hear the Escort got stuffed by Ted , but appreciate the dry race will be to his advantage.
Lets face it , four Suds in the top six is fantastic.
Catch you all tomorrow, oops! today.
Cheers. :D

Fantastic day today. Really good fun and great results on a dry day!
Quote of the day from an Escort RS 2000 MK1 driver: "I can't believe I was beaten by an Alfasud".
Correction, he was beaten by two Alfasuds, Ted and Malcolm- Brilliant.

Hey !! what can I say?
What a fantastic weekend you guys had and what a way to raise the profile of our great little cars.
I wonder how many spectators even had a clue as to what an Alfasud was and , in the right hands, what it could do on a track.
I so wish I had gone in my car, as , on the way home I caught up with and passed the guy with the red and gold Escort RS2000.
Great to meet up with you all as well. It turned into the CAF Alfasud supporters club, Brilliant day, thanks. :D 8-)

Good to see Lee Penn on the pace in thunder saloons, if Adie Hawkins turned up, and Bryan did an invitation then 33's could have a good showing in Thunder.

What happened to the black sud in race 2.

I like the Orange jagermiester Capri in the background.

Hello All
Really great to see/meet fellow CAF members at Snetterton on Sunday. I should have put a barbeque in the corner with a fridge of chilled Peroni or similar :P

I personally found having the support from you guys on Sunday helped a lot. I knew you were all watching somewhere and I really didn't want to make a complete hash of things.
I couldn't quite believe where all the Alfa's finished, an incredible showing and I hope we will be able to take the fight to some of those cars again at other tracks. Time will tell.
Last year my lap times were around 2:32, the only thing that has changed on the car from last year to this year is that it has had new/reworked suspension and setup along with big vented HiSpec inboard brakes all immaculately prepared by Tom and with help from Shrew. Many thanks guys!

Tim, not sure exactly what happened to Richard Drake's black Alfasud. He told me that on the final back straight he missed a gearchange and thinks he might have bent some valves? He still managed to get me at Coram but the little red SC took the third place honours by 1/10th on the line. He managed the in-lap and then the car died just before reaching parc ferme. I hope he will venture out next season.
Here is my in-car footage from the wet race on Saturday. Not much to see in the middle of the race except me having a big tank slapper around 7 mins at Hamilton. I think Richard gets past the red/gold RS2000 at about 10 mins and then catches me up.

Dry race video link from Sunday to follow shortly.

All the best,
Malcolm

a match for exhaust note for me though was much nearer the back of the grid, interesting chat with the driver before and after the race though for obvious reasons for me ;)

Hi Guys,
Video from yesterday.
I did see the Mustang steaming towards the corner and felt sure he wouldn't make it so I braked thank God.
Got a wheel on the grass at one stage and it all went wiggly for a fraction of a second. Should have learnt not to do that. Overall the most fun race I have ever done. I did take on-board a tip from one of Bryan's Alfa 33 videos - never give up. Got to lose another 25 KG if I don't want to be out-dragged by a Mini.

Hey Kev, the engine tuner at Novatech Slough called today to see how I got on. He tuned that Hillman Imp too.

All the best

Cheers Malcolm and Simon, that was great to watch.
That was a great lunge that Richard did when he passed you, but that little SC of yours is just a peach.
Action photos I took were not very good, but I did try.
Thanks.

Blimey i must be slipping, i never sniffed that one out Malcolm!

I can't say anything fresh or new really, but i will reinforce the sentiment of the weekend, and that is that you guys have done us all very very proud, what a fantsatic weekend for the mighty Alfasuds!

Well done to all, superb results that reflect both the car prep work that has been going in the background and what appears to be a growing confidence in the drivers that may not have been racing quite as long as Twinkle Toes Ted has, really top drawer effort all round fella's Bravo.

Sorry i didn't get there Saturday aswell, i would have loved to have seen the other Napolini Sud racing again too, which i don't think i've seen since Cadwell a good while ago :?:

I wasn't the first to say and probably won't be the last, but the "Tom Touch" has certainly had the desired effect on many a sud in the past, and this weekend confirms he's still very much the best man for the job. Taking nothing away from sterling drives from everyone of course, congratulations to you all from me personally and on behalf of all CAF members.

I gather Suds have not been so discussed in the paddock until now, and whether thats to praise them, or simply be annoyed by them, its all sounds rosey to me! :D :D :D

Well done again chaps,

Superb!

You were correct Simon, didn't realise you were only talking about the Fords
3/4 's of the Alfasuds were 100% consistent 8-)

Brilliant set of results - really happy for all of you and your Suds! Great improvement on laptimes too! I had TSL live timing on my phone whilst we were watching the big sportscar race at Goodwood on Saturday - and again on Sunday where it was the warm up race for the Tourist Trophy!

I'll look forward to watching the in car footage over the next few evenings! Nearer the time I'll write down some tips for the Silverstone International circuit - the paddock set up is a bit strange but I rather like the circuit.
