				my new purchase

picked this up today, with the help of mr collection shrew himself of course
no, not a bmw as others have said

it's a 1972 Lancia 2000 Sedan, a huge history file with it and in need of a little TLC
shrew loading it all up, safe as houses
there is some connection to the suds as it too has a flat 4 engine, not much more in common though! it's a 2 litre pushrod engine, carb fed by what looks to be a twin choke single rather than the single choke one I first thought, 5 speed gearbox with dog-leg first, 4 pot from calipers (I think...) like richs' fulvia...in fact there are quite a few similarities between the fulvia and this car, basically it's an S3 flavia, they just dropped the name and called it a 2000
this picture shows something that is now missing, on the way down the A1 a gust of wind blew the rear shelf straight out the back which I promptly ran over

it's now safely tucked up at my unit, having to sit outside at the moment, well will be for some time until I get a bigger place to keep things, really can't see me getting much chance to touch it this year.....

Thanks for kind and complimentary plugs mate, but all in a days work for you and growing collection.
Shame to add the rear shelf to list of parts needed, but all in all i think you got a great project there mate.
Bravo!

i'm sure the parts needed list will grow mate, a bit of hardboard and some vinyl will soon sort the rear shelf cover out

just been sifting through some of the paperwork, found the original bill of sale in December 1972....car cost £2,249 brand new plus a few extras,
metallic paint.............................£99-08
delivery.....................................£20-00
supply & fit number plates...........£6-25
supply and fit inertia seat belts....£19-00
12 months road tax....................£25-00
also of note is the £900 trade in of the hillman hunter GT, which was less than 2 years old....
amongst the other invoices I found an oil & filter change done at the local fiat dealers.....£3-20 total bill!!!!

the speedo reads about 52k also, I think? which we rightly assumed must have at least a 1 or 2 in front of it but being an old style milometer it just reads up to 99,999 miles then goes back to zero.
on looking through all the old mot's, I've got just about every single one from 1975 when it had it's first one, it seems the mileage is genuine! been off the road for the last 10 years or thereabouts but for the last 10 or more years prior to that it had only been doing 200 or so miles a year....
and it seems to be a 2 owner car from new.....

I'm sure it was a real steal, and im confident it is going to be a strong car and relatively simple physical restoration.
Crying out for some weber/dellorto downdraughts though mate, i think they'd pep it up a treat!

Very nice machine to add to your growing Lancia collection. I snapped a Lancia 2000 coupe at Goodwood last year, I must get round to uploading some more pictures...
Engine seems a long way forward so I am guessing FWD, like the later Gamma?

yes, FWD with very similar set-up to Richard's fulvia that I've nearly finished Lauren.
appears very similar spec wise, 5 speed dog leg gearbox, 4 pot front calipers and rear discs. just a completely different engine!
cheers Chris, sure it's not to everyone's taste but sure it'll surprise a few especially if I listen to shrew with his twin carb suggestions

yes, is a bit really mate

only really wanted the strut tops off the front inner wings for the integrale but guy didn't want to chop bits off and make it immobile so I said i'd buy the whole white car....then he said it's both or none

yes, worth doing now value wise.
grey one will be saveable, hopefully so anyway. some parts from the white car will help along the way.
mind, it'll be a few years before I get started at the rate things are stacking up..

Another addition to my Lancia fleet purchased today, thanks to Colin and his "why not" attitude to buying the 146 junior

Went to see it today, inevitably I bought it!
Shrew will be collecting it for me in the next week or two..
Y10 GTie's are hard to come by nowadays, especially one with a huge history file and a genuine 47k on the clock!
For such a small car it's incredibly well equipped, electric windows, central locking, alcantara interior, factory tilt/slide sunroof, oil pressure/temp gauges, 5 speed gearbox etc.
Remember what dross Ford were churning out in '92?
This car has a real quality feel to it, even the door handles feel solid and have that nice closing sound.
