Yup, blue is best in my eyes as well.
Re: My new project, finally got my integrale.
Blue looks good, but I'm sure I remember a blue/green. This might be it, but my memory remembers it being a bit more green

Re: My new project, finally got my integrale.
you could very very nicely keep it within the "tipo" family with Atoll Blue?
one of the nicest colours alfa used in my opinion, and the delta would look lovely in that, with graphite grey wheels, dark accents etc

both of those blues are very nice, and suit the car well.
but about 20 years ago I bought a book by nigel trow on the delta, and this picture has stuck in my mind ever since

did actually get a few hours on the car this afternoon in an attempt to weigh up getting the engine etc out.
did a compression test before moving the car around, happily decent pressures and very even numbers. worryingly though by the time i'd had it running a awhile to turn it around and got some temperature in it the oil pressure was pretty low, about 1bar at tick over.
looks like a refresh will be in order after all,
will make the decision over the coming months as to whether to take the opportunity to convert back to the original 16V motor etc...
all looks pretty tight I must say
struggled to find anything strong enough to lift the car on as did aim to drop the whole lot out the bottom, getting enough height may be an issue.
the usual way of doing it is to remove the transfer box, then the gearbox whilst engine is supported then the engine.
think i'll try removing the transfer box then lifting it out the top, can't be tighter than the 20V lump going in a 145?
got the driveshafts and prop undone along with a few bits and bobs.

why not cut the rot out of the crossmember and come out the front?
is that as daft as it looks?

Re: My new project, finally got my integrale.
not daft at all mate, an option I seriously considered given the state of what's left of the cross-member!
have to think about the refitting though so figuring out the best way to remove it will help when it comes to the install
plus there are differences between the replacement front end I've got now I've compared them....so keeping it all together now will help to figure stuff out.
just been reading up in the (expensive) lancia workshop manual I bought a while back, seems the transfer box is a very easy removal. that will help no end with being able to lift the lot out the top as its output shaft sits well under the car so you'd never lift the engine & box out with the transfer still on.
should get a chance next sunday to have a stab at lifting it all out.....

got a few more hours on the car today in between the moto3 and motogp races
I can only say, integrale engine removal....what a pain!!!
the transfer 'box is now off once the front shafts were removed. the workshop manual only listed a few bolts holding it in....shame they didn't mention all the others that hod in in!
most pipes and cables, gear linkages etc are removed. only left the electrical connections in place until the last minute as I don't want to leave it long in this damp air with them un-plugged.
as it sits now there's just the small matter of craning it all to the floor, separating the gearbox off the engine then the engine itself should be able to be lifted out through the top.
it is IMPOSSIBLE to lift it out the top with the gearbox still attached. chassis rails, engine stabiliser mounts, brakes master cylinder etc all sit in the way of it going upwards as one.
it'll be fun trying to get this lot back in place in a freshly painted engine bay.......

]engine is out now, in fact it was a week or so ago, just not got around to posting.
to get the engine up on the stand meant making up another adapter plate as the arms wouldn't fit where I wanted them to and leave room for the rear crank seal housing to be removed.
some left over box section and I now have the spindle mounted. just need to fit a few little gussets to help strengthen the joints
little workshop up the road from me at my mate jims is about ready now so the car will be moved there when I get chance, then the chopping can start

Just thought I'd post a comment you made at the start of this thread:
"Won't be doing anything too serious to the car for a good while, far too many other projects on at the moment. Maybe next Spring I'll get chance to get stripping it down."
that didn't last long, not that I'm complaining !

finished the gussets for the frame adapter tonight so lifted it all up on the engine crane and slid the stand onto the bracket then lowered it all down
happy to report it didn't fall to the ground!
still got to decide how far the strip down goes but i'm sure it'll end up being a full rebuild....

Re: My new project, finally got my integrale.
had planned a day out today with the family, ride up to mablethorpe for some fish & chips and watch the sand racing on the beach.
nobody wanted to go out though, gonna be wet and windy was the consensus
why do I even bother trying!
so with the day free and after half an hour of sitting idle I set about the integrale again as it's off away next weekend to jims where i'll be chopping it up properly.
so I set about taking the dashboard out which wasn't too bad a job in the end but blimey, there's a whole heap of wires behind there!
found some usual and not unexpected more rust holes around the screen corners but not to worry, i'll be changing the whole scuttle top panel anyway to make the wipers park on the right side, and get rid of some holes
with that out the engine bay was then tidied up a little as there will be a fair amount of chopping out going on in there.
heater box looks like it could do with a full refurb so I've taken that down the shed rather than in the loft where most of the other parts have ended up for now.
note the lovely little universal joints in the heater linkages, guess even with fiat writing the cheques they didn't fully shake off the over engineering aspects
with the heater box out it's clear to see that the rainwater drain hadn't been doing its job for a while, another source for water getting into the car although thankfully it doesn't look to have caused any rot issues....

she's gone to her hospital this morning, my mate has kindly converted a shed for us to use to get the 'grale back to full fitness.
thanks to my mate steve for moving it at 8am on a sunday morning, pretty sure the neighbours didn't mind us making a racket loading it
was a bugger to push forwards as the tie rods are still off the car, hence the toe out measured in inches rather than mm's
didn't mind going backwards though so that saved the grass pushing it to the workshop
