She looks nice in Silver Kev, it should be the only one in the UK which is always a good thing to have...

lol, man cave is a welcome distraction JB
sud is in grave danger of being overtaken in the pecking order........spoke to the trimmers last week to see if we were still on schedule for the roof lining to be done at this month end/early march (hasn't the year started to fly by

) only to be told we are looking at end of march....hopefully!
trouble is good trimmers are hard to find round here, which makes him in high demand. no choice now but to hang on for him, anyone else worth their salt will be equally booked up now so no point in going to the back of their waiting list.
makes the promised easter debut seem very unlikely now though

Does this mean your Silver S1 won't make it to Spring Alfa Day Kev? Was very much hoping to see it.
Don't think I'll be taking the 'Sud to this one but think will go for a look in the Mito. Hoping to see some 'non northern' Suds that I've not seen before down there.

afraid not on getting the Sud to Duxford mate, delays out of my control have seen it virtually stall on the progress front.
i will be going down in the 33 though so at least boxer powered!

Look forward to seeing you guys at Duxford then; as hosting section, the East Anglian Section of AROC are providing volunteers for parking marshals etc, I have the first shift manning the entrance until about 1100, so give me a wave as you pass.

well, feeling a little guilty about the sud i brought it out from under the cover this afternoon and cleaned the inside out ready to start getting it back together
nothing much doen of interest, just had a look at what parts i needed to get out of the loft to start the interior off.
door cards and rear quarter cards were in a very pretty poor state but thankfully only years of dirt & grime which cleaned off fairly well. a good clean with glipton and some conditioner saw them up to a decent standard.
looking at the rear 1/4 cards though there seemed to be a bit missing off the top fastening until i remembered the stainless trims. luckliy i found them so the door cards are now ready to fit.
i do have all the extra trim for thedoors somewhere, handles and window winders etc so i'll have to search those out.
i had the seats cleaned last week which have come up ok considering, not mint but how many options are there to get a mint S1 ti seat set???
worst part of the day though was noticing a dark puddle on the gravel where it's been parked.....on sniffing it i got the unmistakeable whiff of gear oil
now i know toms' work at bls is faultless and all the ones hes' done for me have been perfect and given the position of the oil stain i concluded it must be the reverse switch....which i fitted
sure enough the switch is coming out in sympathy with the 33 in having a moment, or is it a protest at being overlooked!!

seeing all the lovely suds at duxford has renewed my enthusiasm to get on with the job, so progress of sorts should trickle along again....
did scare myself while looking at the lovely early suds though as convinced myself that i'd painted the door frames and window frames black after having them done in body colour. know the S3 cars were black but all these early cars had body coloured frames.....convinced i'd made a mistake and painted over the fresh body coloured paint with black...
forgot to look last night when i got home, only just remembered now so searched back some pix.....ok, i know i could have stepped out of the back door and lifted the cover....but when do we ever do the easy thing
thankfully the debate was just for the window guide runner in the front door which i painted black as per the brouchers and not the door & window frames, so panic over
still, was nice to see the suds out & about. roll on august

Great to see you back on the case!
There were a lot of nice 'Suds and Sprints at Duxford, more than I've seen in a long while, lots of nice early 101s and classic Alfas too - such variety which is what makes being an Alfa enthusiast worthwhile
Thanks for not running me down on the gate (if you got there before 1030) though there were a couple of close calls! I was getting a bit concerned folk might be rear ended by the nutters passing through, so when the queue started to build I decided to abandon the gate for a bit to speed up the pre-paid/non-paid separation, happily with the backlog moved on there were no incidents. Thanks for the waves too!
cheers
Ian

got some time on the sud today.
first job was to rivet the stainless top guides in for the rear quarter cards. original holes were mullered and couldn't find any rivets big enough so new holes needed.
cards fitted ok so rear shelf was cleaned up ready for fitting. some stains on it and loose hairs so i shaved and sprayed it, turned out ok
rear seats went in without issue.
fitted the shelf under the dashboard and fitted the clocks & steering column cowling properly
front seats in next once i found enough bolts ans spacers. i'd cleaned and lightly oiled the runners a week or so ago so happy to say they glide quite nicely for sud seats
started to fit the door cards but they are a bit too warped so tomrrow they may get some adjustmenats and a bit of training to regain the shape. rare as hens teeth to find so these will have to do.
did manage to clean up a door release and fit that so it's a lot easier to get out now!

Wow - 2-tone interior looks fabulous. Factory original I presume?
