1967 Revolution started Tony, founded i'm told by a guy who raced Alfa's if i recall correctly, who was dissapppointed in the lack of decent strength lightweight alloy wheels available to him.

No wonder they looks so good eh!

They have never done many designs, only about 7 or 8 available today, but they include the 4 spoke you remember, typically fords and mini fitment wasn't it, and a 5 spoke version in the same style, then the RFX's, a six spoke modern motorsport wheel, and then a couple of variations on the 8 spoke minilght design.

Still going today, and up against the cheap import versions in very similar designs.

I love them so i hope they can ride the storm and see the copycat crap off!

i remember barry lee coming to our school with his Mk2 escort to show how driving irresponsibly could injure you...................he proceeded to do drifts, do-nuts and hand-brake turns in a small playground with us standing against the bike shed brick wall watching in awe

the fact that we were told not to reach out to touch the car as it went past shows how far health and safety have come to stop great things like that being done nowadays

I just can't work out from the ht leads if its a 6 or an 8, but even so the gearbox and what would have been front wheel drive is a weird one for a yank 8 maybe,

Unless, its from one of the coupes or town cars that were tried in the states, i know Caddilac and a couple of others had a bash at it but they didnt really catch on.

It's not a Renault 25/30 transaxle mated to the engine is it? Might even be the whole 3.0l V6 lump as well looking at the rocker breather and exhaust manifold.
I remember them being used by kit builders in GT40 kits as they were meant to be able to take quite a bit of stick. Just a thought.

I got the information and pictures on the RnS forum. Rear renault V6 onto a VW transaxle.
"Well spotted ref the Renault/VW, Charlie who built it owned a company called Witchtune in Ipswich, which happened to be next door to Autocavan VW. So it was handy for parts trying out etc."

Phil, wouldn't it have four reverse gears if it was that way round in the Sprint? Original V-Dub lump would have been behind at the back ?

Wow - that's a real Giocattolo replica, isn't it?

Engine is definitely a Renault V6, but the transaxle is a bit of a mystery - it isn't a Renault UN1 (obvious choice for the PRV engine) or an NG3, it isn't a VW bus transmission and it isn't a ZF. What could it be? VW 914 perhaps?

Some VW diffs can be turned over to work in mid-mount, as could early Porsche 901 transaxles. The Renault PRV engines were mounted ahead of the transaxle anyway, like a big Alfasud, so they work well in mid-mount.

I suspect the engine pic was just after installation as the outside looks to have been finished to a high standard. But I wonder what happened to the car as those pics were late 80's I believe.

I was going to say it was a BMW 2-litre with Apfelbeck 4-valve heads, but as the cam covers say "Ferrari" it must be an 860 Monza...?

was just on a display at the railway mueseum at york so most likely a locomotive installation so could well be a deltic
