lol.
won't be any rushing to meet any deadlines in getting back on the road, it'll take as long as it takes.
purposely said it won't be this year as don't want to set myself dates and targets then cut corners to meet them.
having said that though, engine has been rebuilt and ready to go back in, gearbox is being rebuilt now, suspension just needs a paint, seats just need cleaning.
an absolute ton of other jobs though
should be picking it up friday morning, can't wait

the day i'd been waiting for arrived, thankfully nice and bright but more importantly dry...
a call or 2 to make on the way but eventually we ended up at the paintshop.
now, i will admit to having reservations about painting the sud in this colour, nisida grey metallic. the draw of doing another red sud was strong, or another bright colour. but this is the exact colour that my sud was painted in back in september 1976 so it just had to be done. i just hoped i would actually like the colour!
the couple of pics by shrew the other day were nice but it still had to be seen in the flesh.
to say i'm happy is an understatement. the paint finish is second to none, a real mirror finish as had been promised.
these pics are a few from the paintshop on collection, pretty sure mr shrew has some of me looking bamboozled too
some more to follow......

john for riding shotgun twice this week, and for selling me the sud in the first place,
and shrew for all the help in finding the bodyshop and helping arganise & transport the sud around
cheers guys

No need for thanks mate, no need at all.
I'm chuffed to bits that its gone as well as it has, the car looks stunning.
testament to John and Bobs efforts a handful of years ago to start with, your keen intent on making this a very special Series 1 Ti, and Dan and his paintshop lads certainly seem to have taken a shine to our little alfa's, so the whole project so far has been surrounded by like minded people.
nice to know that a predominantly VeeDub bunch of lads can still have a relapse towards good taste every now and then!
I can't wait for the bits to start appearing on the shell, and it start to take shape,
so whats first?

Looking good Kev!
Does it have a Webasto fabric sunroof?
Have you got the original style steel wheels for it?
Looking forward to watching the rebuild - should be fun for you - cheers Ian

yes, has the full webasto roof.
i also have the original steel wheels to go on when i sort some tyres, fresh from a shrew refurb
next job for the car is to formulate a plan, a list of jobs to be done in an order.
first off will be to finish off any painting under the floor etc.
the engine & gearbox can go back in once the gearbox is done, suspension at about the same point.
wiring loom needs tidying and checking out so that will go in.
the big stuff is simple, it's all the detail stuff that will take time

Superb sir!
Silver paint looks great, can't wait to see it rolling on those styled steel wheels...
Will you be using a 1.2 Ti gearbox again, or something a bit more long-legged?
