blimey, that filler looks near an inch thick!
crazy that they didn't attempt to get it straight!!

still, it helps with your weight reduction :D

I know crazy. As I said would have been quicker to hammer it out as I have . At least I know why it was pulling to the right now

That was a bit extreme with the pudding . I know sometimes you need to use some, but as you said you could push the worst of the damage out first.
looking forward to transformation. :D

Evening chaps

Been playing around with brembo calipers this evening. I was thinking about using ally for the bracket . What thickness would you guys use. I've got some 6.5mm plate . I was going to double or even treble up. Is this ok. Or should I just use steel?
Ordered a service kit for them.as one of the piston dust covers was knackered. £23 bargain .

Evening

Bit of progress today. Replaced all 8 oil and dust seals on the brembos .One piston played hard ball.but I won in the end. Plus two of the four bleed nipples where seized . One was a pain to get out. The hitting stick helped to free it :D four new one should be here tomorrow.

I'm going to bin The company that was making the sills. As I spoke to a mate who I forgot worked at a metal works. He's already made them ,plus he's laser cutting the brackets for the calipers out of 10mm steel tomorrow for me . Result.
So I can get back to welding :D

Need to keep at it. Haven't done much this past week apart from sorting the front brake upgrade. Just needs bolting on. But I'm going to respray the calipers first.

Evening
Made some good progress over the last couple of days. Driver's side all welded. Jacking point made with 3mm steel .So nice and strong now .seam silled and undercoated .
IMG_20170309_211449.jpg
Had a bit of play with pearl ref over the black . But it's to much for to I want . Then sprayed cobalt blue over another panel ,but didn't really do much apart from highlighting the blue flake that I did years ago.
This is a long way off . But want to find something to lay over the black.
IMG_20170309_211925.jpg
So spun the 33 round tonight on its new skates . Welded in one little plate in the boot tonight, trying to use up the gas as it's reading empty. But both corners have self lightened . I'll plate them up Saturday and cut the wheel well out too . Roll on the weekend :D

looking good mate, progressing along nicely.

gonna have a fancy paint job then? should have guessed as much really :D

those skates look handy, was gonna get some but not really had the need yet, could be handy when we get the bigger unit for moving stuff into corners

Yeah I'll be happer when the welding done ;)
The pair of skates I got ,is so I can just spin it 180 about . For when it's on the road . Only £33.99 delivered eBay .
As for paint yes has to be a bit of custom .
But not to crazy . Want it to be subtle . Love mafia black . But it needs a bit more than that ;)

Just a little update. Attacked the boot area yesterday. Cut out most of the rust, plus the wheel well.to put an ally sheet in . That's minus 10kgs for that :D I'll weld up the corners and other bits in the week .
Enjoy the carnage

Hi adie

Yes it wasn't good . Passenger side was a bit better . But i want to start fresh . Ironically the spare wheel well. Was the best bit

If the wheel well was the best bit it just means you have saved the most weight by taking out

result.

Bit more done today evening. Welded in one corner.plus welded some box section in. As i was given a heads up about the rear trailing arms flexing as I've cut the boot out . So this should brace it now . I'll finish the other side tomorrow.

The only negative day was while welding in the boot corner . Splatter landed on some foam which was on the driver's seat next to the car :( so pissed off. Was going to sell them as I'll be fitting bucket seats .When i find some . Hey ho

Evening peeps

The Resurrection is back on kev
Saturday I cut out most of rust on the passenger side including the jacking points. This side is a bit worse than the other side .but there's not much in it :|
Need to just concentrate on the welding and ignore everything else it needs. But really want to build the 1.8 block I've got . But that's going to have to wait. All about the welding for now .
IMG_20170923_160208.jpg

So today I got the welder out as I've been let down a job I was doing this week . Classic Daimler V12 for some bodywork.
So the Alfa now has three jacking points. Nice and strong with 2mm steel . Plus welded up the inner arch too as your see in the pics . Tomorrow I'll hopefully get the rear jacking point and maybe the sill

Evening peeps

Well a pretty good days welding.
Rear jacking point done . Floor done .two thirds of the outer sill done . Plus got to weld a piece in rear inner arch too .Only negative was i melted part of the loom  I'd put a piece of metal under the wires to protect them .but when I was hammering the floor into place ,the metal moved . So I'll have to cut in new cable.
