A tad optimistic? Maybe,

but, i'm certainly not going to talk it down any whatsoever.

I'm the first to say its about time that the rarity factor means more than the "Mud Stuck" reputation that all Italian cars earnt in the 70's.

Brilliant cars, far less of them than many other similar aged classics that sell for double that price, and as the advert quite rightly says, a liveable day to day car, good enough for modern traffic and pace,

and we all know how much fun they can be on the open road! :D

Best of luck to him, it sounds an honest advert, and hopefully it bodes for everyone, and we all have a part to play in the values of our own and our fellow owners cars.

thumbs up from me! :D :P

Classic cars do appear to be increasing in value generally,
low interest rates and all, people looking to put cash elsewhere?
it was on ebay earlier, but now disappeared,
as it sold??

Looks immaculate bodywork!

Though something a bit strange going on with the wipers - pax side needs re-positioning, no big deal, but the rear is odd, unless the ignition was switched off before it parked?

£3100, 8 bids and just under 7 days to go...

Sud's are going into the £4k-£6k range now.

It's been back on for a few hours and already unto £3,100

Someone must know who the owner is, or keeping quiet till after auction. guess we're all watching the result.

He started a thread on AO, seems he's not an Alfisti, just some chap who had this in his garage for long time.

He came on asking how much it was worth, someone told him £2k

A tidy Sud S3 cloverleaf is now worth £5k easy.

Between here and AO, we own the probably 85% of all the Sud's left in the country, we're all responsible for maintaing this sale price and inflating it further.

I agree.

I have been offered more than his asking price for mine on 3 occasions now. 1 person wanted to go home and get the cash!

But even though it was a great offer the cash was not enough to change my life so I never came close to accepting it! :D

agree - dave

both very valid points, and true of how things should be viewed in my opinion.

we the owners have the biggest responsibility and effect towards the resale value of our beloved cars, and until we all sing from the same hymn sheet, Suds/Sprints will not be well thought of as good investments and practical classics when compared to other makes and models.

i for one am happy to see what some others would consider a very expensive or optimistic advert, but the proof is in the pudding as they say, and this thing is selling well i reckon, especially for ebay! :o

£4.6k in the end, given adjustment for inflation, it's about equivalent what I got for mine in 1999, so they are keeping pace and holding value.

Hello, I would like to introduce myself, I bought this car with my heart not my head as I have two alfas already and nowhere to keep it, I have owned lots of alfa's since I passed my test. I thought I would visit this forum as I like alfa owner but sometimes it gets a bit childish with some folk. The car was artificially bid up by someone to the best part of £1200, the seller retracted the bid but the amount still stayed so myself and the two previous bidders had no choice but to bid from £4200 onwards when we were effectively joining the party at £3000. The seller is a trader, he hasn't had it a long time, the car I don't think is some cherished classic like most of us have. That said I will stick to my winning bid and pick it up soon, I'm a bit apprehensive as to what I'm going to find but hey that's life, the photos look ok and I've never bought a car on ebay before, but I know how rare these are and at least it has an mot. I will report back if I have bought a donkey or something good. Also opinions on Values are great but true value is when a seller matches what you want for a car. A rusty dog of a Ferrari Dino just sold for £132k to me it was worth nothing, to some guy a hell of a lot more. Cheers GTV

I purchased a Sprint and a GTV6 on eBay last year. So far so good.

Thank you for the replies, around 10.00 am tomorrow morning I will know what I'm getting into, on a side note, as I've been out of touch with sud parts apart from knowing most are rare, what's the situation with headlights in the UK? I've used on previous alfettas lhd lights as that's all you can find, and the beam is not much of an issue in the uk as the lights are just not that bright to upset anyone, I can drive with high beams on and it just makes them about normal to a new car, I have a contact in Italy for original Carellos and siems, and rear light lenses would anyone else have a need?

Congratulations on the new purchase, I've got one that looks exactly the same and they are great cars! The repair jobs are often drawn out but rewarding (just replaced front calipers on mine!)

I could do with a pair if outer headlights if that's possible?

Hope it goes ok tomorrow..I'm sure it will
