Been meaning to show this tool for a while, I use it quite a lot at work if bottom ball joints need separating.
Used to be a case of getting someone to pull down on a lever or big bar whilst struggling to also get into the joint to see what was going on.
Thought about getting one of those hockey stick type levers which work well but still takes you away from the action, unless you get someone else to pull down on the lever.
What we have is just superb, especially great if you work on your own. It works far better than it looks like it will , I had my doubts when it turned up but I've yet to have a car defeat me with it.
You simply hang it under the car, hook onto something the opposite side then turn the silver threaded portion which tensions the side you've put the chain through. Most ball joints pull out with a few screwdriver twists, the previous method of levering and hammering at the hub are things of the past! Most joints just pop out of the hub, a squirt of WD and a hammer tap is the worst you have to do!
This was when I had a 306 in this week which needed a new bottom ball joint.
Beauty of this tool is that it holds the arm safely out of the way of ABS rings of CV boots, especially handy as the joint came wrong so it sat safely there for an hour or so awaiting the correct joint. No danger or drams. New joint in then unwind the tool and done.
Quite expensive but well worth the money for ease of use and huge drop in hassle!
